Apr 1, 2016To be honest, I can't say I enjoyed this significantly less than the average superhero movie. I think to some extent critics did have their knives out for this one, likely because of DC's shameless attempt at copying the Marvel formula and for just how gravely serious the film takes itself. However, the movie does begin promisingly enough with a strong opening sequence that cleverly flips the much criticized Man of Steel finale and sets the stage for its superhero clash.
For awhile, the film offers the illusion that it may actually be building up to something. For all of his flaws as a director, Snyder does have an eye for striking nerd visuals (a young Bruce ascending with bats, Superman at the Day of the Dead, etc.) and some of his images here are a welcome reprieve from the distinctly bland Marvel aesthetic (it's flawed vision, but at least it's a vision). The film is also littered with strange flourishes and moments, the very sort of idiosyncrasies that Marvel's assembly line approach predominantly avoids.
The flip side, of course, to this lack of polish is that Batman v Superman really is an absolute mess. It's an interesting one for a little bit, but after setting up its characters and their moral conflicts for more than half of its runtime, the film on a dime instantly jettisons all of it for the sake of an obligatory finale with a dull CGI monster and for pandering fan service and universe building. In the end, it feels less like a climax and more like an elongated trailer. With such a shallow conclusion, it's hard to get too excited about what's coming next, especially when these films are so concerned about the future, they forget about the story being told in the moment.

Not gonna lie this movies looks terribad, though I always hated Snyder and found him to be a hack ever since he butchered Watchmen. The trailer really makes this look like a soullless piece of crap,
-Batman and superman meet up and have initial beef
-only for Lex Luthor to be the actual bad guy and summon Doomsday???(also horrible miscast of Lex on their part)
-Bats and supes team up and Wonder woman is there for some reason?
I also like how they banked off the batman brand name and didnt even bother making a movie for batman before this. -

I love Batman so much as a comic book series, movie franchise, etc. He's the most realistic hero, and easily has become my favorite.
But, I've always thought it was absolutely f---ing stupid to have him face off against any super hero or mutant villain.
People act like Batman is this mastermind, or he's too smart that he'll always find a way to win. f--- outta here.
Superman would k--- Batman in a second, and that's why this movie never has and never will appeal to me.
Literally every super hero or super villain NOT in the Batman universe would snap him in half.
But, in saying that Dark Knight and Batman Begins >>>asvdawg, Deadpool and dkdnfbdjdkdddjdjfvcgfl like this. -

I f---ing hate Jesse Eisenberg and hated the fact Snyder tried SO HARD to depict Lex like The Joker.
Anyways, I liked this movie for the simple fact that imma Batman nerd and Batman was pretty awesome in this. Affleck was great. Superman sucks so I never even bothered to see Man of Steel (read about it before seeing this, was aware of the whole plot). Went in with low expectations and left happy.
We will appreciate this movie WAY more when the entire series is completed. After all, it's just a set up movie so no s--- it seemed rushed..
Now I'm looking forward to Suicide Squad, strictly to see Leto's version of the Joker, and another Batman appearance. -

Went to see it last night. Enjoyed it very much! Affleck is fantastic as Bruce Wayne & Batman, Cavill still does a great job as Superman, Jeremy Irons is solid as Alfred, Larry Fishburne is hilarious, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman is awesome!
Action scenes are great, story is a bit muddled at times but still easy to follow. The music is explosive, especially WW bits.
It is definitely getting a lot of undeserved hate.CSW, asvdawg and TheAQU4M4N like this. -
