Surprising. Didn't think you had the level of intelligence to understand Cole's God level rapping.

That's cool. I have no problems with you thinking that. I'm know not gonna magically change your mind about Cole but I'm confident in every single statement of that post.

bro who exactly is cole compelling to -- or better yet, how is as compelling as kendrick? what part of his narrative lends itself to being that compelling?

i mean im not saying cole ISN'T relatable in certain ways, but you guys force these comparisons on to him that just shouldn't even be in the discussion

and cole has tried use both "extended metaphors and complex lyricism" has he not? and just failed at doing it well enough so he focused on other areas of his rapping?

yeah i agree no one should be throwing shade at him for selling out arenas and doing incredible well in his lane -- that's dumb. but the rest of your post is just baseless imo

I don't force the comparisons on Cole. I made the comparisons because when I said Cole was a "great value Kendrick" everybody liked my post and I knew y'all would take the bait. Cole is constantly compared to other artists like Lupe and Kendrick as a way of discrediting him as an artist and my point is Cole's approach is just different not necessarily worse. By the way you don't judge how compelling an artist is to people by your own individual preference. Obviously, if he's selling arenas and people are still buying FHD more than a Drake or Kendrick album after a year and a half he's compelling to some market. He appeals to somebody just not you.

My comments are simply baseless purely because you simply don't agree. I listen to songs like 03 Adolescence, 2Face, or Lost Ones and Crunch Time, and I see a guy that simply has the ability to vividly tells the stories of others while being able to represent the views of others through his individual experience. That's all he really is an artist. He resonates because he's an individual many people see themselves in because of the connection he's able to establish through his POV. Obviously he doesn't resonate with you, maybe its because you don't have similar experiences or his style isn't well executed to you and thats fine.

I've heard the same arguments bro. You're gonna tell me he's watered down, you're gonna tell me his writing is bland, and you probably think he's whole persona is uninteresting and that what he's done has been done before which disqualifies him as a great artist. I've heard it all bro. It's cool with me. At times, I feel criticism is warranted because yes, he does have corny lines, and yes sometimes he's a lazy writer. But when individuals continue to use small portions of his career to describe him as a whole artist, I know there won't be any productive discussion. Either way, like him or don't like him. Its music, its subjective. Feel how you want to feel doesn't matter to me.

I got mad halfway through and refused to read the rest even though I've seen this before.

I love Cole, but let's call it what it is. He's got 2 great mixtapes, 1 very good album, and 2 mediocre ones. He's an extremely likable dude so it's easy to see why he's so popular. I think his best is yet to come.
