idk how to answer that honestly, not right now at least.

take care is my favourite drake album, but off the top, i can name you an album from each of the last 10 years that i like more or equal to take care. Free TC from last year, My Krazy Life from 2014, kaleidoscope dream from 2012, etc etc.

but Drake is bigger than his albums, his throwaways/summer smashes define our summers here, and whether or not his music is 10/10 bluechip top class doesn't matter. my friends and i will likely be playing controlla every time we pre drink this summer, and the rest of views when we cruise. jus like we played 10 bands and hotline last year, tuesday and 0-100 the year before that, 5am the year before that etc.

drake is the artist i listen to when i'm with my friends, whether or not he's a 10/10 artist on metacritic, or if pitchfork gives him best new artist doesn't matter to me. fact is, as long as views sounds good to us, we're going to play it.

so i anticipate his music and the memories that come with it. he'll never top GKMC, f---, he might not even top TPAB. but i don't think i'll ever give TPAB another top down spin again in my life, and I don't remember the last time i went and listened to a random joint off of GKMC. where i live though, drake's 2009 cuts get revisited when you go to any house party, put any iPod on shuffle, or hop in to just about anyone's car.

idk why i like drake, but i don't really think i need to stress too hard about coming up with a good answer. he makes music i enjoy heavily, for the 3:30 run time itself, and the memories that follow.

this summers gonna be lit, and views will be in rotation until we all head back to school.

@Immy a fakket he prob waiting on the Eminem verse to drop after Kanye's.

But on the real, I don't really care how it's received as long as myself and the immediate friends I chill with enough that we share the same playlists like it.

I'm not listening again until the album drops, but from 3 listens at the gym I like this particular song more than anything that has come out from or leaked from drake since January 2016.

okay, well:

first of all, i don't like j cole. anyone from j cole nation can attest to that. i liked j cole, in fact, when he dropped Friday Night Lights, he was my favourite rapper. but 2 terrible studio albums followed by a mediocre one has pushed him out of my top 20 as of right now. and he'll never make it back, dude is corny to me.

as for drake, if i had to pick only 100 albums that i had to listen to for the rest of my life, both take care and nothing was the same would be on there. you can laugh at that, given that you probably heard 100 albums in the first quarter of this year alone, but i haven't. i'm a casual when it comes to music. and as a casual, i enjoy drake's music heavily.

if you honestly asked me if drake was in my top 5, no. top 10, nope.
but if you asked me, "hey hasman what 3 artists would u take a new album from rn if u had a choice?" my answer would be kanye, YG and then drake.

it's really not that serious, but a lot of it gets escalated by comments like "ur so stupid for liking hotline bling" the same way narsh's hate for kendrick is escalated because of all the TPAB d-ck riding. it's never as serious as i let on, the only artist i'm that passionate about is kanye because to me, he has had a more profound impact on my life than tupac did.

i've criticized drake on this site more in-depth on this site than the people in this thread quoting tweets or calling him corny for having a s-----y channing tatum bar tho, but those posts are probably lost somewhere between all the semi-sarcastic "drake is goat" and "why is drake so hype at this" posts.
