    How is rapping about love and sex and family shallow? How is celebrating escaping poverty with your family if 10+ siblings shallow?

    THATS part of the problem as well. The arbitrary labels.

    Nah. I completely agree with you. I'm fine with everything from Nas to Young Thug being considered hip-hop or rap. No need for subgenres. We can acknowledge different styles but hip-hop's unique identity lies in the fact that there are so many different styles, moods, influences etc. People just gotta get with the program. Young Thug is just as "hip-hop" as Tupac. Just different. Better get used to it or get left behind.

    You literally said because kendricks topical raps are more purposefully constructed it's easier for people to breakdown. Which is literally the same thing as saying they're just skimming through the content and not really engaging with it, s--- a d-ck pls

    As for King TROUP, it literally says "stop the killings." Literally says "thought I seen a ghost because your son looked like you." Literally has a 4 bar passage about false incarcerations

    And if that's not focused enough, like I said, it's because people aren't engaging w the material because of their narrow mindedness. You know, the whole point of this thread

    Generally most people on here are very dismissive about Death Grips, which is slightly disappointing (but understandable) to me considering how many progressions they've made within the genre.
