Nah, Dismissal of death grips is deff on topic.

Like I said, this isn't about people not liking certain artists or styles, but more so a lingering mentality that certain styles just aren't hip hop if they don't check certain boxes

Yep, which a decent amount of people (especially on here) like to do with Death Grips, as they are very non-traditional, but excluding some tracks on Jenny Death, they've clearly always been hip-hop, but thrown in a blender with a multitude of other genres and influences.
Also applies to Death Grips, who've gotten love from everyone from David Bowie (who took inspiration from them for his last album) to St. Vincent to Björk to Trent Reznor and more. I think in many hip-hop circles online, they're accepted as such but you'll always find one person in an r/hiphopheads thread about Death Grips to ask how and why they're considered hip-hop.

    Idk these are just theories:

    - because there's a hater culture in hip hop, rappers talk about haters, haters exist in hip hop, and haters will hate on what's easy to hate, new, innovative, sometimes ridiculous, risk taking rappers. Then again you could ask why there's a hater culture in hip hop

-because hip hop is an American genre and America is full of conservatives

-maybe it's just that today we see way more people insulting new rappers because internet and every dumb 12 yo person can say something that will have as much visibility as a music critic

-because rap is a genre that evolves very fast (due to the facility producers have in sound design, trap sounds today are very different of those from 2013) so there will be a lot of people that are lost and won't understand newer movements.

I agree with almost every bullet I just think the one missing is that like I said, a change isn't always for the good. I don't see how that's not a good point.
