@redsoxx how do you feel about those Jimmy Butler for Celtics top pick + throw ins proposed deal? Seems dead now with Jimmy representing us at the lottery. Tbh I couldn't believe that was even on the table. I hope it was just a case of Ainge making the calls, I know Gar is inept but I don't even think he's that stupid.

I think Danny was unwilling to trade Crowder around the deadline time and that was the deal breaker(Smart was in the deal as well). Crowder from December through the trade deadline was putting up about 16 PPG and hitting the 3 regularly(36/37%). A lot of ppl are down on him nationally from the Atlanta series but he never really recovered from that high ankle sprain he suffered in mid-March. It really just depends where the pick lands, if its 1-2 then I would rather take Ingram or Simmons and keep Crowder and Smart I think. If they land in the 3 to 5 range I would do the deal I think. Im pretty high on Smart, Crowder and Ingram though.

I think GM's are super weary of getting fleeced by Danny and a deal might be hard to come by for the C's. I think they might go after someone like Marc Gasol. Conley is probably gonna leave and Memphis owes Denver their pick next year and the Celtics their 2019 first rounder(Jeff Green trade). Would probably be a good time for them to blow it up.

I always thought Conley would stay in Memphis but I'm not so sure anymore since their coach left. That core has peaked so I agree it's probably time to hit the reset button.

You obviously see them a lot more than I do but I don't think Smart will be much better than what we saw from him in the playoffs. Could be wrong, JB went from role player to star in a season so it's possible, I just don't see it happening. Dude is also one of the worst floppers I've ever seen. Almost killed himself trying to sell a boxout foul on Korver. I love Crowder, he was killing it before he got hurt. If I was the C's I'd pull that deal. You get Jimmy and suddenly you're one of the top FA destinations in the league. Glad they didn't though, would've been some dark days around here if Jimmy left.

I like Smart from a defensive standpoint, he can guard 4 positions. Shot may never get there and he looked really bad in a lot of the Hawks series because of how poor everyone else was shooting(exposing his offensive game even more) as well as the lack of Bradley, but hes a good versatile player off the bench that will be on All defensive teams in the future.

This was the game Millsap went off for 45 points. Stevens stuck Smart on him towards the end of the game and he shut him down.

I dont think any of the top free agents are coming to the Celtics and if thats the case id rather take Ingram or Simmons and maybe try to trade for Gasol or someone who is gonna cost less.

Today/Tomorrow is the big day!! Could go really well or really bad for Philly, quite nervous.

@Kon , how well do you reckon the Lakers are going to improve next season? I've lost hope in getting your draft pick this year and expecting the worst next season when you're gonna get Ben Simmons who's gonna have a LeBron impact and also reel in a decent free agent now that Kobe is gone. Meaning that next years first rounder won't be anywhere near as good as this year...

Hard to say until after free agency and the draft, but I do think last year's roster was better than their record showed so I'd give them another 10-15 wins alone just based off getting rid of Byron Scott and also the young guys developing a bit. Now another 10-15 wins still won't put them anywhere near the playoffs, but maybe if they keep their pick and add another FA or 2, they can compete for a spot.

It's really hard to say cuz we don't know how good the 4-5 young guys will be once they reach their potential, but my guess is it'd still be a lottery pick if you get it next year.

Can't wait to finally see what happens with the pick tonight, excited but nervous as well. The whole Lakers season comes down to this one moment really lol.

    1. Philadelphia 76ers (10–72, 25% chance to win)
The 76ers actually have a 26.9% chance to win, because they hold the right to swap picks with the Kings.

    2. Los Angeles Lakers (17–65, 19.9% chance)
If the Lakers’ selection falls outside the top three, it goes to the 76ers, via the Suns. This would require two teams to leapfrog ahead of them.

    3. Boston Celtics (via the Brooklyn Nets, who went 21–61, 15.6% chance)
The Nets sent their pick to the Celtics in a 2013 trade, which brought back Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, among others.

    4. Phoenix Suns (23–59, 11.9% chance)

    5. Minnesota Timberwolves (29–53, 8.8% chance)

    6. New Orleans Pelicans (30–52, 6.3% chance)

    7. Denver Nuggets OR Toronto Raptors (via the New York Knicks, who went 32–50 for a 4.3% chance)
Here’s where things get complicated: two separate trades have affected the status of this pick. A 2011 trade gives Denver the rights to swap first-round picks with New York and move up if the Knicks’ selection is higher. BUT, the Knicks made another trade in 2013 to acquire Andrea Bargnani from the Raptors, and sent this year’s first-rounder to Toronto. In a nutshell: the Raptors will receive whichever of the Nuggets’ and Knicks’ picks is lower. The Nuggets have the ninth-best odds to win.

    8. Sacramento Kings (33–49, 1.9% chance)
Through past trades, this pick can go to Chicago (via Cleveland) IF it falls outside the top ten. This unlikely scenario would require three teams with worse odds than the Kings to leapfrog into the top three, moving the Kings down to No. 11. Note: If the Kings jump into the top three and finish ahead of the 76ers, Philadelphia holds the right to swap picks, so Sacramento will not receive the No. 1 pick even if it wins.

    9. Denver Nuggets (33–49, 1.9% chance)
As mentioned above, if the Nuggets swap upward for the Knicks’ pick, this pick will go to Toronto. If the Nuggets jump the Knicks in the draft, then the Knicks’ pick goes to the Raptors instead.

    10. Milwaukee Bucks (33–49, 1.8% chance)

    11. Orlando Magic (35–47, 0.8% chance)

    12. Utah Jazz (40–42, 0.7% chance)

    13. Washington Wizards (41–41, 0.6% chance)
Barring a leap into the top three, this pick will go to the Phoenix Suns as part of this season’s Markieff Morris trade.

    14. Chicago Bulls (42–40, 0.5% chance)

@NBAsxn here's an up to date look at pick rights/swaps that you may see tonight.

Best case scenario for the Bulls is jumping into the top 10 while the Kings drop out so we end up with 2 great picks.

Knicks stay blessing teams with awful deals. Washington giving their 1st up for Markieef Morris is pretty bad as well.

Mostly I feel like there's a predictable outcome for these draft lotteries, but this year I really can't decide what I think will happen. I'm sort of leaning towards Philly or the Celtics getting the top pick, kinda thinking Lakers will end up at # 3, but who knows.

I can't wait to find out if we can get into the top two slots...

The Celtics need a big name and a knock down shooter....

Could be a yuge night for the C's!

*edit* of course he deletes it now, but Dikembo Mutombo posted a tweet saying congrats to the Sixers for getting the top pick in the draft.

Even though it's the most likely outcome, definitely gonna be a bad look for the NBA if the sixers get the top pick now..Half the fans already think it's rigged and that was before this.

Anyways here's a pic of the deleted tweet.
