Jun 3, 2016 i used to play travis tracks a lot last year when the homies were at my place but i realized it was just cuz they were the closed-minded hiphop fascist type, and he was like a whitewashed dumb down thug that they would tolerate
Jun 3, 2016 yeah it apparently doesn't serve any purpose, not even as a build-up to rhq's hook ................
Jun 3, 2016 yes he does open them up to a whole new audience and that's amazing!! this song is really about to blow!!
Jun 3, 2016 it has been explained in this thread. short version: travis was not on the song, he asked to add vocals, then he just took the whole song to mike dean and started changing s--- like it was their song. here is the whole timeline (only facts, not including speculation) thug, starrah, and quavo made the song travis hears the song while hanging out with thug (thug considers travis a brother so he doesn't mind playing unreleased music around him) travis asks if he can add vocals to the song, thug is fine with it travis sings the hook & starrah's verse, but writes and adds the "never will i cheat on u" bridge himself travis likes quavo's "birds in the trap sing brian mcknight" line and decides to use the name for his project (this is somewhat speculation, but quavo has been saying that since at least 2013 so he was def the source of the title) travis starts playing the song at clubs, giving the impression that it's his song (the fact that he named his album after a lyric from it didn't help either) mike dean begins working on the song as well, which fuels the rumor that it's travis' song zeke hirschberg, a 300 A&R, announces on twitter that pick up the phone is NOT travis' song, and that it's actually thug's be el be says there is arguments over whose song it is, lyor says they had "intense meetings" about the song lyor specifically refers to the song as "young thug & travis feat. quavo" in several snapchat vids eventually, when an agreement can't be reached, travis leaks the song on soundcloud himself (this is where the idea of him "stealing" the song comes from) 300 gets the song deleted from soundcloud travis and lyor work things out on the phone, which leads to the current itunes version we have listing the artist as "Young Thug & Travis Scott" but it's still released under epic and not 300
Jun 3, 2016 Don't disregard 90210, Apple Pie, Alright, Grey, etc etc Travis has lots of unoriginal moments but there's lots of ups Travis has that no one ever talks about.
