Apr 26, 2016 I thought back in 2014 it was all mapped out for Thug to be Wayne's protege & be the next YMCMB superstar . Think it would have been better for Wayne's career if he embraced Thug instead of the hostility between them.
Apr 26, 2016 Be had one song that had success so far. How is he a mainstream artist at this point? He is semi known still at this point. More known on the Internet
Apr 26, 2016 this is poop and i DON't accept it i am an important critc. well I see what you are saying but the Thought is out there. people are thinking these thoughts and writing them sometimes. you're right, no one is funding grad students and writing theses to formulate all of this properly but i mean. it is modern culture and people do analyze it, often very well.. .. . IDK
Apr 26, 2016 "Lifestyle" was massive. "Stoner" was nearly as big, "Danny Glover" pretty huge in its own right. Add in his features ("About the Money," "Throw Some Mo," etc) and he's been a pretty consistent presence at radio. Yes, there is absolutely good rap writing out there. I'm saying there's not a good community or infrastructure for bringing those ideas together--i.e.- no practice of critical theory. Where do you write? Fair, but do you want to compare 15-year-old WPG's knowledge base to present-day you?
Apr 26, 2016 i've done a few pretty good posts on section 80 and also the "playstaiton portable" web forums .,
Apr 26, 2016 That's the same for a lot of artists these days though tbf, but yeah I don't think he'll be anywhere near as big as what Narsh is saying
Apr 26, 2016 It's kinda sad but I feel like I'll be more liekly to remember narsh the chintaluri fury in 10 years time over thug
Apr 26, 2016 Hookah - 233 Million Views (surely not because of tyga ) Lifestyle - 230 Million Views About The Money - 155 Million Views Best Friend - 116 Million Views Check - 87 Million Views With That - 71 Million Views Power - 45 Million Views Halftime - 35 Million Views etc. aaaand he is only going to get bigger. Y'all remember this? Thug world wide, ya digg. Sold out shows in UK, golf terlets and chandeliers. That Rich g--- lifestyle. Millions and billions nicca.
Apr 26, 2016 not sure if you're just talking mixtapes, or hits in general, but Go DJ was the first massive hit i recall hearing (C1). first big mixtape hit...i rly duno 150k is a good over/under point. i'd take that bet, but ya i agree that it would be a long a--- bet though since i know that even in thugger's senior citizen days, you'll have faith that he'll blow up hah lol i think the more people try to compare the two artists, the more disdain i have for thugger. even those who are well versed in thugger's discography continue to make unfair comparisons... both artists are unique and successful (varying degrees, obvi) in their own right. this is literally the dumbest response to my thoroughly stupid post... i've said it many times before, but the Wayne/Thug comparisons are foolish; there's so few similarities between the two that it's asinine to continue to compare them...yet, you're trying to correlate thug's future sale projection numbers to wayne's from 15 years ago. the few comparisons that may be between the two aren't translatable to their followings, their potential, and definitely not their sales projections. that's literally like saying that because No Doubt took 5 years to blow up, that every other slightly similar band will also take 5 years. there's more to projecting the timeline of an artist than taking your pick of what you consider to be a similar artist and slapping a label on them. you should know better than that.
Apr 26, 2016 @Slyk I think wpg is saying that thinking thug won't blow up if he hasn't by now is r-----ed, which I agree with lmao He doesn't have a debut album. His biggest solo hit peaked just recently (best friend), slime season 3 might give him another hit that level (but we gotta wait and see). Regardless, how can you say he won't break thru if he hasn't already when he doesn't even have an album?!
Apr 26, 2016 he was making a direct correlation to the two artists' career paths based on how much time has passed since they started it's fine to think he's gonna blow up. i clearly disagree. the amount of exposure he's already received, the reaction to that exposure, the way the general population perceives him, his style, quality, etc etc etc. so many factors, but just call it my opinion.
Apr 26, 2016 but each project of his has sold more than the last /shrug his sound is only getting more accessible. he's cosigns are only getting larger (and hopefully people like kanye step forward and actually release s--- with him..he's worked with Rhianna too lol. chris brown just released a remix with him actually) i think the reaction to him so far is clearly just because how weird of a f---ing human being he is lol. its just taking time for people to look past his image. like, id agree with you if he was in the same place he was a year ago...or even like 6 months ago..but he's clearly been on an upward trend.
Apr 26, 2016 i agree that if his sound continues to be more accessible (it's NOT) than he stands a chance. i disagree that people have been slow to adapt due to his image... the majority of people hear him on spotify/radio/club/whatever and don't place a voice to a face/image/person/whatever because they don't know enough about him. the slow reaction isn't due to image.
