Apr 26, 2016 he's a fraction of what wayne was, but using engines like social media, his success is more visible. wayne was everybody's favourite rapper, you didn't need twitter and instagram to feel it either
Apr 26, 2016 Drake is the lite version of 06-09 Wayne. If drake raps on your song it's a hit. But Wayne had like 15 songs in radio rotation for four years straight. f---ing "Let it Rock" by Kevin Rudolph. All those songs with Jay Sean. Wayne gave no names a ton of platinum records
Apr 26, 2016 K but if part of ur issue w my suggestions about thug is that I'm being too abstract, ur retelling of Wayne's prime seems the same way. like, from my eminem tainted rear view I can remember a lot of people hating Wayne as well...but I get that the sales defintely support what you're saying My point is that sales are becoming more and more moot...which is the only reason I was suggesting thug would be as big as Wayne at some point Idk. Don't yell at me lmao I'm genuinely curious as to how you think people can quantify these kind of things down the road since u said the metrics I was using (thugs rise so far, his age, his co signs, his potential) are all a weak arguement
Apr 26, 2016 But the entire music industry doesn't function like this anymore. Unless I'm wrong about that too
Apr 26, 2016 I can't even go into a Young Thug thread without Narsh derailing it with irrelevant spam
Apr 26, 2016 my issue with your argument was that you literally used a co-sign as a building block to try and convey that thug will one day be not just as big, but BIGGER than wayne. yes, sales are becoming more moot, and while the industry has tried to correct that with a sales plus streaming model, it's still not an apples to apples metric. but radio success might be, and had this been a worthwhile argument, i would try and find numbers to try and show you. but it's not, you're the only person in this world who will ever claim thug will be bigger than prime wayne. matter fact, you're one of the few people in this world who will even try and make that claim without even knowing how big prime wayne was. check ya self bro
Apr 26, 2016 u dont want it with me. u cant debate me bc u know i will out-think ur soft indian a--- EVERY day. u have nooooooo clue about even recent rap history -- HOW do you know what thugger will do
Apr 26, 2016 I was half joking when I said I didn't remember how big Wayne was. Like @Boos said we were in middle school and while I was barely into rap and never heard a Wayne project back then, he was defintely type of big you couldn't avoid. Kind of like me being in elementary school but still hearing in da club, p----, disco inferno etc by 50 everywhere My main confusion, as you put it, stemmed from the fact that it isnt an apples to apples comparisons anymore and will continue to be less and comparable over time. Like, someone like drake couldn't even pull the numbers to match Wayne if that's what it took to be proven to be "as big" Also calm down rofl this doesn't even have to do with thug anymore, don't get your panties in a bunch. I'm trying to compare drake to Wayne so I can get a better grasp on how to make comparisons like this. You think radio play is comporablw now vs mid-2000s? (Once again, since you guys get so worked up, im asking so you can educate me not because I think I have an answer lmao)
Apr 26, 2016 yo chill I'm sitting here arguing with u while eating pizza dog, u the only one taking this more serious than it is
Apr 26, 2016 Read above for clarification..Yeah fine I'll take my L for thinking thug can be bigger than you guys think, that's fine with me, but my bigger confusion has to do w how we can even make these comparisons properly
