    Drakes lack of range DEFINITELY takes away from this amazing beat

    @WPG you said something once about the beat being bigger than drake or something along those lines. Perfect example is this song

    Before this dropped, my expectations were very low, especially after hearing some of the leaks.

    The album didn't blow me away or anything but I like it more than I thought I would. It's too long and eventually kind of drags, but there is a lot of stuff on it that I really enjoyed (views, grammy, too good, feel no ways, weston road flows, 9).

    So based on what I expected I'm surprised in a good way, for that reason I'm saying it's dope instead of trash, since there ain't no other option.

    I actually think the length will be one of it's strengths in the long run. It's very cohesive and has a little bit of everything that Drake fans love, which will keep you going back to it for different songs.

    At this point, NWTS remains better in my mind.

    Does this album have as good a song as Furthest Thing? Connect?

    I chose dope, 10 songs in so far and I'm enjoying every song. Loving Drake's flow on all these beats, so relaxing.

    i dont see why people complaining its 20 tracks like u dont have to listen full throught everytime u listen lol, as long as the album is cohesive i dont see why u complain about that

    I mean, this is a dishonest comparison and you should know that. They're totally different songs by totally different artists that aren't filling even vaguely similar purposes.

    Both are somber singing tracks that set the tone of the album. It's not exactly the best comparison but I see where he was going.

    Doesn't have to be Say You Will specifically. Kanye can't sing that well but 808s is still great. Why should Drake's lack of range take so much away from the intro if the end product sounds good?

    This probably isn't better than NWTS but I think it certainly could be better than Take Care or any other Drake project given some time. Like I said in the other thread, for a 20 track album Drake does a good job of holding your attention for the most part. There's certainly some fat on this album that could have been trimmed off. I wish there were more tracks like Hype & U With Me rather than Redemption but it is what it is. The album isn't trash at all though. Drake pretty much gives us everything his fans like about him.

    First of all, it's not a foregone conclusion that "the end product sounds good," I think that's the crux of this argument--and I imagine what @Charlie is getting at. 808s, if you like it, succeeds because it's such a specific, naked, vulnerable sound. Drake is trying to make glossy pop music that feigns at vulnerability. They're not even remotely similar in purpose or structure.

    I feel like if Drake had to show somebody what he's a about music wise he would give them this album because it highlights all of Drake's strengths imo

    The intro track doesn't feel like he's a porcupine rolling over on his belly lol. It's pretty adult in tone imo. I don't think vulnerability is the message of the track but we all hear s--- differently I guess
