My problem with that intro isn't the singing at all, the singing is good imo

When that beat drops, any great rapper (not drake) could have turned that into an incredible moment. He dropped the ball, but it's not his fault. He's just not capable of that type of greatness

I really love the cohesiveness and consistency of the album, and the more focused R&B approach (tho I wish it had not only more rapping but emotionally driven tracks like From Time, Look What You've Done, Too Much, etc.)

My biggest problem with the record is really the lack of any major highlight and the intro

Will definitely overplay it and I can perfectly see it getting better with time

To each his own but I really disagree with that. There's other songs on here that might fit that criteria (9 for example), but the intro isn't one of them imo.

I...what? Isn't that, by definition, his fault? You're not gonna penalize an artist for a huge missed opportunity (that he chose to include on his album, as the intro) because it's not in his wheelhouse? We're listeners, not his therapist. We're not here to pat him on the back and tell him it's okay he can't rap like he should be able to.

My first listen, I recognized that drake wasn't going in on that beat. Not using it to its full potential. I just honestly don't think he's capable of riding something that great and turning it into something magnificent. Yeah that's his fault, and it really just comes down to a cold hard fact: he ain't that dude

I only meant it's not his fault that he can't do something that great. Him choosing to include that beat and that song and using it as his intro is totally a mark against him.

And like i said, IT STOOD OUT. My first listen and I caught it and it wasn't a good thing
