well first of all you don't know me, so you don't know what I've heard and what I haven't. So that covers that

my point is if you asked general ppl who listen to hip hop, I think mmlp would get more votes over the fix. that's all I'm saying. And I'd put money on it, that's how confident I am in saying that

I'll always state what albums I think are better, but it's not that serious to me. Hip hop is your passion, so I know you care about this a whole lot

Can't wait for the rest of the list. :)

There is no way to tell whether they would have found the same success if Em didn't come first though. I think the "frat-rap" space could only exist because em occupied the more mainstream technical rap space. Logic might be a better example though since he is more technical. And what I meant is that 50 likely wouldn't have been as successful without Em and consequentially, Dre's backing. I agree D-12 didn't have any impact in the long term but they were a hot commodity after Devil's Night.

50 was fielding multi-million dollar offers before Dre got involved. He was a sure thing.

50 was in a bidding war, he would have had the same success no matter what.

but would he have been as successful if he signed to another label? Dre and Em definitely had an impact on him as an artist. GRODT was helped by the success of 8 mile as well.

Maybe marginally, but 50 was basically 50 in early 2002.

I could see someone making that argument, but only one album that came out since good kid got ranked higher.
A mark against him if anything :'(

it's not, never claimed it was.

But if you're trying determine which album is better between the 2.....That's pretty much the best way to get an idea of which album is held in a higher regard

Or the fact that probably 30 times as many people have heard one of the two albums. The Fix is a better album.

I guess if you are putting Eminem in your top rap albums of all time then I dunno, that means you really haven't matured or grown old of his s---. I've never been a huge eminem fan but I basically stopped listening to him when I turned 18. His stuff sounds great when you're a yungin but it's not that great in reality tbh

everyone that has heard the fix holds it in high regard.

For the record while I understand WPG point I think you guys are underrating Eminem's musical influence

His sound has definitely never been that impactful but he has influenced a fair amount of well known American rappers and probably the majority of foreign Hip Hop (an important argument considering Eminem is a worldwide icon unlike most rap artists)

@WPG I don't expect any of their work to be on your list but I am curious as to what you think about Herb and Gates. What are your thoughts on Fazoland and BLIK?
