May 19, 2016 This list will be very helpful in finding new/quality thug songs, so thanks are in order
May 19, 2016 5. The Blanguage In the running for one of the best remixes of all time. One of the best Young Thug songs to date. If 2 cups stuffed and Danny Glover introduced a reluctant Narsh to Young Thug, Blanguage convinced me he was the best rapper on the planet. The handful of songs that are ahead of it are simply because I've formed a more personal connection with them, for various reasons. I'm a fan of Drake's The Language. It was my most played song off of NWTS (and one of the most played in my itunes in general I think lol). I love the nonchalance, I love his voice/delivery (despite the corniness of the actual hook). This remix makes it entirely irrelevant. Young Thug is approx. 5 billion times the rapper Drake is. He's the better vocalist as well, on top of having a more interesting writing style, a more engaging narrative, and just a better body of work. But just take these two tracks: Thug creates his own language, panders to no one, and redefines what it means to be a great rapper in this decade -- what exactly did Drake do again? Thug channels ad libs from MJ, squeaks like prime Wayne but raps like all he listened to was Andre growing up. The devil caught his soul, riding his back like a camel, and Thug flails throughout the entire track trying to get rid of his presence. From his booth, he paints a picture of wealth and extravagance tinted by paranoia. He's on the outskirts, chasin' green smokin on orange kush, feelin like a cantaloupe. He pulls up to the Intercontinental and hops out of his recently dirtied Phantom, he teleports from his booth to a banana boat, time travels back to when he made his baby sitter drink his vanilla, and somehow ends up back to where he started -- banging blood, he could never flue it. This is, without a doubt, one of the best rap songs of the decade. Is it a parade? @ThyNeighbour @Enigma @SWZA @Fazers @Lil Flash Stan @Squid @Mow @Fayetville @Iceman @itgetsthe hoesagain @BigCountry @Patti Mayonnaise @Ordinary Joel @crowtv @furface @Meero @JG2 @Packman @Soldier @Trippy Skippy @Mikey @Michael Myers @BuffaloBoy
May 19, 2016 Add me to the list boi! I really need to get onto this list, a lot of the songs I haven't head before. at the honourable mentions list.
May 19, 2016 This was probably the most gratifying paragraph you've ever wrote in your life. And I know the exact feeling, you're not done yet. You've still got a lot of aggression to pen out.
May 19, 2016 4. Halftime When BLB periscoped Thug's show in Texas the other day, the same one @El Ares was at, all Thug had to was mutter the words "halftime" -- and the crowd broke out into an acapella call and response with the rapper. They went through the first half of the first verse (from what I recall), reciting every line by heart as Thug did his own ad libs. Coincidentally, it's the only part of the song that anyone can even feel comfortable rapping along with. We all want to rap the whole thing. Some of us might even think we can. But nah. We all now it's next to impossible. Say "every time I see her lick her cleavage f--- her on a $10,000 bed" in double time for me. Oh okay, so you practiced that. Well how bout: "Lil n----- play, I'mma catch him down bad and then stick ‘em fold 'em like a wallet I swear to God there's only one of me and these b------s 3 deep like atrident I’m walkin' through it like tons of the ones and these b------s grabbin', I'm at Follies f--- n----- try me I swear to God lil whodie done pull up and pop at his noggin" pew pew pew pew. Yeah, that's what I thought. I once said that this was the best rap song of the decade. I think there's definitely an argument to be made there. This might be the most quotable young thug song to date, despite his flow giving us whiplash at every turn. It's not only one of the best examples of his technical ability but also his tendencies to s--- out melodic, auto-tune heavy bridges that I feel like Kanye and Wayne would die for (heyyy....lets have a very good time). It's a staple in my group of friends. It's a staple in his discog. It also might have my favorite music video of his. Every time I post, it goes mofuckin viral (shout out to @Charlie). @ThyNeighbour @Enigma @SWZA @Fazers @Lil Flash Stan @Squid @Mow @Fayetville @Iceman @itgetsthe hoesagain @BigCountry @Patti Mayonnaise @Ordinary Joel @crowtv @furface @Meero @JG2 @Packman @Soldier @Trippy Skippy @Mikey @Michael Myers @BuffaloBoy oh and
