May 17, 2016 thought it was above average but I'm gonna give it another listen, maybe I was wrong and maybe it is the greatest album since TPAB.
May 17, 2016 d--- 431 posts and still not a single intelligent comment gotta give you props for consistency alone.
May 17, 2016 where did i complain? im just sayin it seems like people are quick to overrate albums that are ambitious nowadays. maybe its a byproduct of people like future apparently being able to phone in great projects
May 17, 2016 such a lazy way of describing tpab. Why is it pretentious exactly? Because Kendrick & his team managed to successfully incorporate all the best elements of the different stages of black music into one album? It's a display of talent
May 17, 2016 1) I didn't say pretentious was the ONLY way to describe TPAB, I wasn't trying to write an all-encompassing review in one sentence you dunce. 2) Many, many reasons which I don't feel like getting into cuz I'm about to be at work and shouldn't even be on rn but had to gripe at narsh. 3) Wait what you mean Kendrick's beats had elements from other genres?! No f---in way that's like so unique and amazing go Kendrick! Jazz history! Blues notes! 4) There are displays of talent on TPAB for sure it's still one of my favorite albums of last year so quit coming at me sideways with your bs.
May 17, 2016 I actually agree with narshima on this one This album, and chance in general is nothing special. not that great. The jay elect song is great though and I'm happy we got to hear that song.
May 17, 2016 In a year where several people have called Views a classic, this is the most overrated project since TPAB?
May 17, 2016 I quoted you, I can only comment on what you say. Not just the beats. All of the album is cultural, pretty much a testament of "black" music as a whole, featuring all his best elements imo. Having elements of jazz and funk is not what made this album great, it's how you do it. Same reason as to why I think chance dropped a modern masterpiece as well, it's not great because chance decided to fuse rap music with gospel, it's great because the whole package is near flawless. I actually agree with the TPAB comparison p4k made a few hours ago. Despite having different subject matters, it looks like coloring book is to chance what tpab is to kendrick. They both managed to respect the art of hip hop while bringing in the best aspects of another musical genre. it could stand its own against any GOAT gospel album
May 17, 2016 Reaction to Views by fans and critics were split 50/50 among both. Some people said they loved Views and thought it was great and the rest thought it was anywhere from underwhelming to flat out trash. The general opinion among critics and listeners for his album though is that it's great, with maybe a small minority who aren't quite vocal yet who don't really care for it.
May 17, 2016 And whoever saying coloring book was just ambitious has never listened to a gospel album.
May 17, 2016 Im sittin here getting entertained seeing mongoloids discuss something they dont have any credible knowledge on whatsoever like they're facts. The only reason it's getting so much acclaim is because it's probably the best project since mbdtf, tpab, the lonerism & channel orange, and not just in hip hop The problem with this forum is that people like Narsh - who may be educated on hip hop music, have zero grasp on music, period. Listening to alot of s--- does not mean you fully understand what you listened to. Not that you guys have that issue considering you only listen to the little entry level s---. I don't even like that mixtape, but it is absolutely amazing, from a musical angle.
