May 20, 2016so in thinking about Kendricks career over the past couple of years, I remember coming across an interview where he stated something along the lines of "TPAB was the album he wanted to make when GKMC came out, but he wasn't ready"....and it got me to the conclusion that where Kendrick is now, is the beginning of his "GOAT" career. When i say GOAT career i mean that hes completely shed his caterpillar cocoon (TPAB reference) to aligning himself into a position where he can really run the rap game..... I feel like Section 80, GKMC, KLEP..were warm ups to the slaughter of records hes going to release in the future.
When it comes to Kendrick he's so cryptic that you can never know what he's up to or about to do next...even with leaks and snippets....I mean when "i" was released i couldn't even imagine the beauty that was to follow with TPAB...i honestly have faith that Kendrick wont fall off ever...i think it is in himself to never allow that to happen.
i love the anticipation you get with following an artist like him...its like "whats he going to do next?" and best believe he delivers whether it be featured tracks or his own projects.
I mean is it just me or does anybody else feel like Kendrick got some major hits coming in the near future? just from watching all the collaborations hes been apart of and all the legends in the music industry hes been working with...its only right that he will carry that knowledge with him on his future projects.

I don't want him to compromise his music for having hits, I want him to keep making the music he really wants to make
Another tpab or a keef collab would make me happyMalvo, Volt Papii, kezno ten and 9 others like this. -

It's true that kendrick has a great vision.
I was so f---ing disappointed when gkmc came out but he definitely blew my mind with TPAB. Kendrick has a grander and cohesive vision to his releases. Kendrick is also more creative (or surrounds himself with people who are extremely creative). That's what made tpab so phenomenalVolt Papii, kezno ten, Revolutionary and 7 others like this. -

Not sure what the question is but yes and no.
I don't see him collaborating with these artists on his own album. Thats also why I love kednrick, he works with everybody but knows d--- well who is the right person to feature on his albums. Adele loves kendrick and I'm sure he could get an adele feature just like that... but I don't see kendrick doing that just for the sake of having a major hit.Malvo, Volt Papii, kezno ten and 7 others like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

I agree with both joe budden and Quik on this
1) like budden said, I can see kednrick building one of the best catalogs of all time
2) like Quik said, I don't see kendrick ever topping tpab, quality wise. Like you said, Kendrick is carrying all that cultural knowledge with him on his albums, and tpab was basically the essence of black music. Everything that made the musical genres of the African diaspora great are in TPAB. So I doubt he can top it, but that doesn't mean he will fall off...it's ok not to top tpab, I mean a lot would consider it as one of the best albums of the last 10 years, in any genre.Volt Papii, kezno ten, Revolutionary and 5 others like this. -

He has a long and prosperous career ahead of him, I think he's absolutely brilliant and has the greatest understanding of black music and its influences on hip hop music out of every new MC I have heard out of this decade. At least thats what he proved with his last albumshahidah, crlk, tehparadox and 3 others like this. -

At first I wanted kendrick to stick to that jazzy/funky style as it results in him making his best music, also who better to have in your circle than Kamasi Washington, Thundercat, Flylo and Terrance Martin? But now I want kendrick to try something new, I want Kenny to continue to progress.crlk, tehparadox, Groovy Tony and 2 others like this. -

Thats exactly what I was thinking about. It's crazy how he keeps getting better and better. I can't even imagine him making a better album than tpab, but with kenny, everything is possible.shahidah, tehparadox, pronx and 1 other person like this. -

I don't think thats what he wants to do.
Brainfeeder had a chat with Punch and they talked about how kendrick decided not to make "mainstream" music anymore. Apparently, he will try to have a few songs for the radio, but these won't be featured on his main albums...So you can definitely expect him to drop more songs like "i" that won't make it on his albums, or more UU albums that will be the throwaways of his previous projects.crlk, tehparadox, pronx and 1 other person like this. -

^The tpab's praise was about the quality.
The album wasn't "different". It's probably different for those who aren't familiar with this music, or for young people, but tpab's music goes way back and everything about it (sonically, musically) was meticulously thought about. Thats why the album deserves every bit of praise, that s--- was musically brilliant.tehparadox, shahidah and DouBle like this. -
