A year ago, I was a huge fan of Eminem. I miss those times now, whem Eminem was so new to me... When I was an outsider going in, learning more about Em, listening to him, it was so exciting. I remember listening to k--- You and keeping it on replay. I remember how I felt when I listened to Kim, being scared af but also getting hella shocked at the same time. I remember listening to songs like Deja Vu and crying, it was all so fun.
Plus, Eminem was still releasing music. Phenomenal, Medicine Man, The Hills Remix, etc. I remember how exciting and fun (yet anxious) it was to wait for these new songs to come out just to hear something from Em. It was exhilirating and gave me memories I still think of today. I remember being on Twitter asking Em questions on his #DearSlim hashtag. The thought of Eminem replying to me and talking to me, answering my question, that was a dream that seemed too real. I also remember when Compton came out and everybody was streaming... The hype I felt when I heard that Medicine Man verse, the way I felt when the stream was going in and out and missing some but hearing the rest... It was awesome!
When Eminem surprise dropped The Hills Remix... That was wonderful as well.
Eminem was the first rapper I had a real connection too. I had Stannes other rappers before (Mainly Outkast) but I had never seen an artists like Eminem. He was good, he made songs I laughed at, cried, songs that I could relate to, but best of all, he was active and still good. OutKast, Little Brother, Common, a lot of the artists I love, are not active anymore, but Eminem still was! It was all perfect.
But eventually, things slowed down a bit. I started listening to less Eminem and more other rappers. This started in December, with Proof's album "I Miss The Hip Hop Shop". Then I listened to Immortal Technique, then Little Brother, and more and more artists since. While many of the artists aren't active like I mentioned, they do have a lot of content I have yet to really hear.
It's been about a year and a few months since I became a Stan. Things aren't the same. I've heard it all. I no longer get that same feel I got when I first heard 97 Bonnie and Clyde. This would be fine, if there was still new music from Eminem, but there isn't. There is a drought in the land. The rainfall is dried up, and all there is no more water. The crops have just about died.
I am becoming less of a Stan every single day because of this. I predict that if no new Eminem music comes out within the next two months, I will no longer be a Stan. I can try to stop this from happening, I can try to keep myself from no longer being a Stan, but it won't happen. If my enjoyment for Shady dies out, I'll be fine. The ride was nice and it was fun. It had ups, downs, and all in betweens, but it may just be over.
Plus, I have a lot of other artists that could become my main rapper. Nas really has a chance at taking this spot. I listened to Illmatic and I loved it, and I have been wanting to hear more and more from him.
Also, I still could occasionally listen to Em, and I'll probably end up being it.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

I wish there was a name for the demographic that are older fans who like and grew up with em and just listen to his new music because em is a legend.
That's respectable and better than the my little pony watching dorito eating neckbeard cacs who people think of when they hear the term stanDeadpool, KLD, Old Account and 3 others like this. -

Eminem was one of my first obsessions as a hip-hopper coming up and I guess the allure of listening to something new from him makes you awe in wonder and amazement. Once you discover other rappers though, that appeal wears off and all you're left with is a rapper who's GOAT but not GOAT at the same time from a listening perspective.OVOblix, Guma, RockstarX3000 and 1 other person like this. -

And yeah you're getting out of the phase where you discover an artist
Now there are two possibilities left;
or you quit listening to him on a daily basis but still admire him and acknowledge he's one of the greats even though you lost your obsessive interest for him
Or you realize he's pure s--- and you're ashamed of the time you were a fan of himGroovy Tony, Guma, Red Rum and 1 other person like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -
