Dec 12, 2014 You can always edit the post. @csw621 As a big fan of Bob Dylan, I decided to check out some of the people he influenced. This is my first stop, and Joni Mitchell is more talented vocally while retaining a certain sense of poetry. I've heard Joanna Newsom before, and I can see where she may have been inspired. Joni's voice is delicate and bright. She hits every note she wants to and it always sound like the song calls for her to do it that way. This album is titled "Blue" but hides the painful relationships behind the sweetest voice. Really enjoying it after a couple of spins.
Dec 12, 2014 Joanna is awesome man, i'll check this out when I have the chance; btw you may want to listen to 'The Wild Hunt' by The Tallest Man On Earth, Swizz had made a nice short review about it back in SL. I think you'll like it, maybe not from your first listen though.
Dec 12, 2014 Always looking for more Dylanesque stuff. Jason Isbell's album "Southeastern" and Sun Kil Moon's "Benji" are two of my favorite recent albums if you're looking for more. I think it was @Creation who showed me Hozier who's an Irish cat with great songwriting. Appreciate the rec!
Dec 12, 2014 Yeah both these albums are good, I recently listened to Benji again and liked it more than I did at first. Hozier is talented, his EP was kinda meh to me (with some good moments for sure), I enjoyed his album much more. It was probably Creation, I think he even uploaded it in SL.
Dec 12, 2014 @Olorin Benji is kind of offputting because it takes so much out of you. Not an album you can put on to escape through. I didn't even know Hozier had an EP. I might as well check that out too.
Dec 12, 2014 That's true about Benji He has a self titled EP with 3 tracks that appeared in his album later (tracks that I didn't really care for lol except from Take Me To Church) and a live song I think edit: wrong, his EP is called Take Me To Church, confused it with his album lol The tracks in the EP are TMTC, Like Real People Do, Angel Of Small Death and a live performance of Cherry Wine
Dec 12, 2014 Right now im listening to JMSN's new album †Blue†It's a really great album, i feel the track Addicted Pt.II doesnt work well on its own, adding it to the end of Addicted Pt.I really improves the track as it really becomes part of the song, if i didn't add it to the end of Addicted Pt.I, I know for a fact i would never listen to it on its own. I also dislike the track Ocean as it is more of an interlude than a track, i removed it, but kept the end of the track (which transitions right into the track Ends) & added it to the end of Waves. Other than those 2 issues, the album is brilliant, it was clear JMSN was trying someone way out of his comfort zone & i feel it really worked, as it meshes the old with the new, as he still offers us reverb soaked tracks. I will definitely be purchasing this album. @CharlieWork , yeah it was me who recommended Hozier's music to you guys, there is no need to listen to his ep's as all of the tracks on his ep's ended up on the album.
Dec 12, 2014 @Creation I just saw that. Disappointing he doesn't have more out. @Olorin The Tallest Man on Earth is insane. It's uncanny how much he reminds me of Bob Dylan, but his singing is a lot more consistent. Wonderfully mixed with the reverb. It's so warm. d---, this is going to get a lot of replays from me.
