Not a lot of relevant fights to the title picture outside of the Title bouts but there will be plenty of those on Saturday and i prefer they have these cards filled with prospects anyways.

Jul 2, 2016 Just gonna run through some of the match ups of the lesser known guys first from the Thursday card and then I'll get to Friday sometime next week. Anthony Birchak vs Dileno Lopes Birchak was one of the more hyped BW prospects coming into the UFC, he's 1-2 in his 3 fights and all have ended in the 1st round. Lost by heel hook to Ian Entwistle (leg lock specialist), KO'd former title challenger Joe Soto and then was flatlined by Thomas Almeida in similar fashion to how Rashad was by Machida back at UFC 98. Lopes was the TUF Brazil 4 runner up, you may remember him (or maybe not) from that long and sleep inducing UFC 190 Main card. He was a pretty big favorite to win the show but was upset by Reginaldo Viera. Birchak is a decent favorite but I wouldn't rule out Lopes who has a pretty slick ground game. Birchak's final flurry on an already wobbled Joe Soto Vincente Luque vs Alvaro Herrera Luque fought for the Blackzillians on that weird season of American Top Team vs The Blackzillians. He lost to Michael Graves at the Finale and then had that awesome Anaconda Choke of Hayder Hassan on the prelims of the RDA/Cerrone rematch in December. Herrera is from TUF Latin America 2, he KO'd Vernon Ramos in 30 seconds at the Finale last November. I don't give Herrera much of a chance in this one, Luque is better everywhere but should submit him early. Luque's Anaconda Choke Felipe Arantes vs Jerrod Sanders Arantes has had an up and down 8-fight stint in the UFC (4-3-1) mostly in the FW division. But he recently dropped to BW and submitted veteran Yves Jabouin in the 1st with an armbar. Jerrod Sanders lost his 1st fight at LW and then dropped to BW where he was starched by Pedro Munhoz and then won a razor thin decision over Russell Doane in his last fight. Should be a pretty even fight but I'm leaning towards Arantes by decision. Arantes' armbar over Jabouin last August Reginaldo Viera vs Marco Beltran Another BW bout. Reginaldo Viera beat Dileno Lopes to win TUF Brazil 4. On the show he actually lost his first fight in the house but then ended up replacing a sick fighter and then won 3 straight fights to win the show. Marco Beltran is from TUF Latin America 1, he lost in the Semi's on the show but has won both of his fights since entering the UFC. Odds on the fight are closer then i expected (Viera -175) but im expecting a decisive Beltran loss probably by submission. Pedro Munhoz vs Russell Doane Munhoz is probably the most underrated BW on the roster. He came into the UFC and took a super short notice fight with Raphael Assuncao and was competitive. His next fight he TKO'd Matt Hobar in the first. Then he submitted Jerrod Sanders in 30 seconds (feels like everybody on this card has fought someone else on the card) but then there was this whole fishy situation where he apparently had elevated levels of testosterone and was suspended for a year and then he lost a super close decision to maybe THEE most underrated guy in the division in Jimmie Rivera, last November. Doane is 2-2 in the UFC with some very close losses to Alcantara and Sanders, the Alcantara fight i thought he won. Munhoz is my pick probably by decision Munhoz's TKO over Hobar back in May 2014 John Makdessi vs Mehdi Baghdad Makdessi is an exciting stand up fighter with all types of unorthodox kicks, he struggles with wrestlers usually and is undersized for the LW division but this is the perfect match up for him. Baghdad was on Team McGregor on that last USA vs Europe season, he is a Muay Thai specialist that also struggles on the mat. His only fight in the UFC was a short notice bout with Chris Wade where he was submitted in the 1st. I think Makdessi wins a decision here and saves his job. Makdessi's spinning backfist over Kyle Watson back on the GSP/Shield UFC 129 card Gilbert Burns vs Lukasz Sajewski Pretty meh LW bout, Burns was considered one of the best Brazilian up and comers but the UFC for whatever reason was looking to throw him to the wolves. He was originally gonna fight Josh Thomson on that Mir/Duffee card but got hurt and was replaced by Tony Ferguson and then they gave him Rashid Magomedov (who is one of the most underrated LW's on the roster) and ended up losing a one sided decision. Burns is a stud on the mat and most of Sajewski's wins have come by submission as well, but he isnt on the level of Burns. Expecting Burns to submit him. Burns armbar over Christos Giagos Alan Jouban vs Belal Muhammad Jouban is one of my favorite WW's to watch, he's always exciting and always going for the KO. He is 4-2 in the UFC but was badly robbed in Brazil by Warlley Alves. Muhammad was just signed by the UFC after winning the Titan FC WW belt over Bellator/WSOF/TUF Vet Steve Carl. Hes kind of a decisionator who out cardio's guys, which was exactly what he did to Steve Carl. He won by TKO in that fight in the 4th after Carl was gassed. Interested to see how he does in the UFC and especially against a guy like Jouban. Jouban vs Seth Baczynski and Richard Walsh Mike Pyle vs Alberto Mina Pyle is a real veteran, 40 years old and still doing it in the WW division is impressive. Outside of HW and LHW you don't see guys fight to that age often in the UFC. His last fight with Sean Spencer (opened up the Hendricks/Thompson main card) was an awesome back and forth fight. Mina is coming off that weird fight against Akiyama, he has a padded 12-0 record and is 34 years old. Pretty forgettable fighter, odds are about even because of Pyle's age but im hoping he can pull out one more before he calls it a career. End of Pyle vs Spencer, great fight if you can find it. Joe Duffy vs Mitch Clarke Duffy's stock is down a bit now that he is no longer "the last man who beat Conor McGregor" on top of the decisive lost to Poirier, but hes still pretty young in the sport and has a lot of upside. Mitch Clarke has had an up and down career, with one huge upset over Al Iaquinta. His last 3 fights are Iaquinta, Chiesa and Duffy. Seems like Joe Silva doesn't like the guy lol. Jul 7, 2016 TUF Finale Friday Andrew Sanchez vs Khalil Rountree-TUF LHW final Sanchez was easily the most well rounded fighter on the show and is the slight favorite but Khalil is a beast on the feet, super powerful kicks and had one of the most brutal finishes i've seen on TUF. His fight to get into the Finals with Josh Stansbury was a classic back and forth fight where both guys got dropped before Khalil finished josh with a flurry at the end of the 1st. I think Khalil stops Sanchez with strikes in the 1st. Tatiana Suarez vs Amanda Cooper-TUF WSW Final Suarez is one of the best wrestlers in women's MMA, she was ranked #1 in the nation at 55 KG going into the 2012 olympics, but she was derailed with a neck injury and then got Thyroid Cancer. She is a beast though and i could see her competing with the top 10 in the division almost immediately. Cooper is tough and well rounded, but she is outmatched here. Suarez should win by submission or dominant decision. Will Brooks vs Ross Pearson Bellator LW champ Will Brooks makes his UFC debut on 3 weeks notice against 19-fight UFC veteran Ross Pearson. Brooks has 2 wins over Michael Chandler, who i would have called the most underrated fighter outside of the UFC a few years ago. Since the last Chandler fight hes had a few lackluster wins, but i think it had a lot to do with his feud with Bellator and the fact that they wouldn't book him or promote him. I think Brooks dominates Pearson with TD's and i expect him to look a lot more motivated then he has in his last couple fights. Brooks vs Chandler 2 Pearson's last KO against Sam Stout Thiago Tavares vs Doo Ho Choi Sneaky my favorite fight on the card. "The Korean Superboy" is probably the best Asian prospect in MMA, he is 2-0 in the UFC with 2 KO's in a total of 1:51 of Octagon time. Thiago Tavares is a 17-fight UFC vet who will be by far Choi's toughest test, he is 2-1 since dropping to FW with a FOTN against Brian Ortega and a quick submission over Clay Guida. I think Korean Superboy KO's him in the 1st and makes a huge statement. What sucks about some of these South Korean fighters is they have a 2 year mandatory Military Service. A guy like "Stun Gun" Kim already served prior to coming into the UFC, but we saw the Korean Zombie disappear from the MMA scene for 3 years(should be back in October-ish) and also another good Korean Prospect Kyung Ho Kang is currently about a year and a half into his service. Choi's last fight with Sam Sicilia Tavares vs Guida Joaquim Silva vs Andrew Holbrook 2 undefeated fighters. Silva is a TUF vet and Holbrook is 11-0 with 9 submission wins. You might know Holbrook for robbing Ramsey Nijem (resulting in Nijem controversially getting cut) or for being Sage Northcutt's original opponent for his last fight before he got hurt and then was replaced by Barberena. Don't really have much interest in this one and not sure why its on the main card. Gray Maynard vs Fernando Bruno Maynard making his FW debut against TUF Brazil runner up Fernando Bruno. Gray will always be remembered for his 2nd and 3rd fights with Frankie Edgar, the 2nd Edgar fight imo could have been ruled a 10-7. Always wonder what would have happened if he had gotten Frankie outta there in that 1st round, probably would have defended against Pettis. At this point Maynard is done, hes getting thrown a bone here but wouldn't be surprised if he lost his 5th straight and retired. John Moraga vs Matheus Nicolau Moraga is the 6th ranked FLW in the world, he was Mighty Mouse's 2nd Title defense back in July 2013 and only other losses came to Benavidez and Dodson who are/were the 2nd and 3rd best FLW's in the world. Hes fighting a TUF Brazil vet who is very well rounded. Moraga is a very slight favorite which should tell you how good Nicolau is. Picking Moraga by decision... Moraga vs Gomez a few years back Nicolau's UFC debut against Bruno Korea Josh Stansbury vs Cory Hendricks 2 guys from the most recent TUF. Stansbury i talked about earlier, lost to Khalil and Cory actually submitted Khalil but was unable to continue because of a shoulder injury. Cezar Ferreira vs Anthony Smith Cezar Mutante won the 1st TUF Brazil season. Was supposed to be Vitor's protege, but is now best known for his recent trio of highlight KO losses to Dollaway, Alvey and Masvidal. He got back on track recently grinding out Oluwale Bamgbose. Anthony Smith is a Strikeforce, Bellator and now 2x UFC vet(was cut after losing his 1st fight after Strikeforce purchase. Smith has won 8 fights in a row including his first fight back against Leonardo Leleco on the Cerrone/Oliveira card. I think Ferreira can grind out Smith, but his chin is shot so he needs to be able to consistently get TD's. Smith vs Ben Lagman back in Strikeforce Jake Matthews vs Kevin Lee Jake is a beast. He was originally on the TUF Nations show at just 19 years old, now at 21 he is easily the best prospect out of Australia (now that Whittaker is a contender). Kevin Lee is best known for talking mad s--- about Sage Northcutt and then getting KO'd by a jiu jitsu guy at UFC 194. He has won 5 of his last 6 fights since losing to Iaquinta in his debut and is also very young at 23. Picking Matthews by decision if he can stay off of his back. Matthews choking Vagner Rocha out cold back on the Bisping/Rockhold Aussie card Li Jingliang vs Anton Zafir Jingliang is a brawler from China who is always in exciting fights, Zafir is an Aussie who is not UFC caliber and was a late replacement to fight James Moontasri at UFC 193. Picking Jingliang by TKO 1st round. Jingliang vs Dhiego Lima in Manila last year

Jul 7, 2016 The live events, original content and the library is worth it for me yea. Those EFN cards (organization Fedor just fought for) are awesome. I've never watched a boring Russian MMA event in my life, between EFN, M1 and ACB (the other big Russian org.).
