Jul 7, 2016 I would argue that they're both systemic and systematic, yeah. But I fundamentally disagree with you: the police are one homogenous entity, or at least each police force is. We don't vote on funding John Smith to carry a weapon and patrol the streets. We give the police department that right, and the officers they hire are extensions of the institution itself.

Jul 7, 2016 This is true, when a police kills someone, it's not the individual but the department that is held responsible. which is why it's easy for the individuals to get away with it. responsibility falls less with them.
Jul 7, 2016 Not trying to be a d-ck, because I know this is all heat-of-the-moment and not thought out, but this is a terrible argument and I suspect on an average day you wouldn't make it. A police officer entrusted with a gun and the authority to use it (and to imprison people) is a representative of the institution in a way that your average employee is obviously not.
