They should make a second season where Naz sues the f--- out of the city, and gets paid a lot of money, which he uses to buy drugs, and he overdoses and dies. The end. That's realism lol.

i live here, theres grime everywhere it doesnt matter if they are minorities or if they are women.. there wasn't an agenda against those groups of people in the show. are you basically complaining that there were some stupid characters? agreed that Nas' lawyer was inconsistently dumb.

Absolutely. Probably feels more at home there than he does back in his place. He was pretty much untouchable there with Freddy looking out for him. And it's funny, cause he's innocent, but since he's in there he's a criminal. But then he gets to go home, where even though he's innocent, he's still looked at like a criminal.

God, this show is/was so awesome. I think it drew a lot of people in with the "who dunnit" mystery/thriller vibe in the first episode. But it panned out to explore a lot more, and use a muslim guy's point of view to explore the injustice he's handed by the very system that promises to deliver the opposite. Its hard to describe this show without using that word. Because in the end, as far as we know, neither Naz or Andrea every really receive any justice.

But I respect this golden age of TV (That's what they're calling it lol) where happy endings are rarely earned, and most people end up in worse situations than where they started. Most of the time, the best you can hope for is ending up where you started. That's why I love Stone so much. He accepts these truths, because he's learned that by expecting them, you can never be disappointed. He goes in to help Naz, but when he finds out what he's arrested for, he knows the publicity from this could help him raise his profile.

He gets dumped for some pro bono uptight c----, who's doing the same thing but needs it less. He is really Naz's savior though. He goes all out for him several times during the trial, even when he's not involved and there's no benefit in it for him, but because he truly believes Naz is innocent. I wondered for the longest time what the skin rash storyline was gonna end up doing... I guess it just showed that life is s---. You think it'll get better, but it usually gets way worse after it gets better, if it gets better at all.

Just finished the finale, man I feel so bad for Chandra, if only she wasnt so f---ing dumb. I guess that is a good thing tho I really doubt Chandra could have gave out a speech as good as the one Stone gave

Also really thought that at least someone was going to die in the finale for some reason

I agree about Stone's speech.. Sometimes he vocally doubted his abilities, whether he was serious or joking, I'm not sure, but he had a way of connecting with those people. On a level so strong that half of them believed him, despite that mountain of evidence. I thought Naz was definitely doomed after his cross examination. She f----- him up, for real

Chandra had a good heart, but s-----y instincts. Stone tried to tell her that putting Naz on the stand would blow up on them, and he was so f---in' right. Maybe we can assume that she went on to find her true calling in life. She probably owns her own business selling sweaty underwear to inmates.

I thought the finale was pretty good. It did a nice job of balancing the satisfying, relatively audience-friendly conclusion with just enough ambiguity and melancholy to leave a lasting impression. Overall, I agree with what others have said regarding the show's flaws. Naz's transformation into hardened inmate is a bit too rapid to be wholly convincing, though its implication of the prison system in creating criminals is nonetheless well taken. Additionally, the character of Chandra was somewhat botched as she was sacrificed for the sake of plot contrivance (i.e. The kiss was just a way to get Turturro back to the forefront to deliver the closing argument).

Chandra's transgressions with the kiss and the drugs were out of character for a show that was, at its best, a detail-oriented, authentic-ish look into the justice system that covered a variety key players from the media to the family of the accused. It was a show that took the time to document the minutiae of its environments and had the patience to observe even the smallest of gestures or expressions of its characters. And Turturro killed it in one of the best roles of his very strong career.

ABSOLUTLELY. When I think about the fact that James Gandolfini was gonna play this role, and then Robert De Niro after he passed away, I find myself thinking that Turturro was the best choice, regardless.
