New UK Prime Minister Thread

    So, now that Andrea Leadsom has dropped out the race it's pretty much definite at this point that Theresa May will be the next UK Prime Minister, making her the second female UK Prime Minister.

    I was initially backing Leadsom but was leaning towards Theresa May recently anyway so I'm fine with this. What do you guys think?

    The fact that their won't be a general election doesn't make as much sense now that there is time for it but I see the arguments against one. The results would be pretty similar anyway.

    Would rather still have that bumbling joke Cameron than May tbh. I don't vote Conservative, so I wouldn't really be happy with anyone they picked, but Cameron is moderate by comparison to May

    Saying that, I'd be against a general election if one was called. The Conservatives won the last general by a landslide, let them have their term. Democracy and all that.

    Word- the Labour party is in shambles right now anyway so its likely that the Conservatives would just get a larger majority if a general election was called

    There should be a general election now really. We may voted for the conservatives but we didn't elect this PM and now the party members won't even get to vote.

    We need to hear from all parties how they would negotiate this brexit.

    A general would be pointless since the opposition is such a mess right now. Conservatives would just sweep it again because who's going to vote for a party that just passed a motion of no confidence in its leader
