Accidentally hit show ignored content so I'll play along for a minute...

What exactly is far-fetched about saying the same country that enslaved black people en masse, forced them into ghettos en masse, mistreated/killed them en masse, and openly dismantled and slandered their culture as recently as the Reagan Administration is anti-black?

Relevant to the topic: members of the Nixon administration recently came out and admitted to a bunch of shady racist practices. Reagan put crack in the ghettos. Stop n frisk was a police mandate in new York--americas supposed cultural hub-- just last decade. The govt was openly discriminating at federal, state, and local levels when my mom was a kid and cops were told to stop suspicious looking minorities the same year Heartless was a single. Where's the lie in saying the institution is racist?

Surely everyone would accept racism is still a huge problem? Even in NFL where racism is most likely not as bad as in other circumstances the Rooney rule had to be introduced & also in the UK There is only 2/92 black managers in the UK.

Yeah i get it, black people were by default disadvantaged by slavery and our economic position has been doomed for the next millennium because poverty exists in a vicious cycle which most black people are doomed to from before birth. (The debate has been brought up here alot) And i'm sure that america in the 20th century has tried it's best to keep it that way.

But ill be d---ed if in 2016 a first world country with a black president in his second term institutionally oppresses black people by skin color as opposed to simply economic position. In which case the population 2.5 times as likely to be poor happens to be 2.5 times as likely to be killed by police. I'd concede that there is a bunch of cackling white folk who are nothing but educated bureaucrats spend their spare time creating measures to prevent the next Obama , but ill be d---ed if you think the law itself as opposed to specific individuals are the ones holding you back in 2016. You have to acknowledge where i'm coming from. It's simply hard to be a skeptic and believe this.

Because that same government abolished slavery (while independent) and has actively undergone a revolutionary process for both women and black people. I'd like to think that progress has been made. Your country wasn't the only one to have slaves mind you, nor were they to ones to even enslave them (that would be other Africans) . It would be nice to think that in 2016, when i leave i my s--- country to go to university in a first world country (next year) , that I'm headed for a better place. (granted the police murder rates here are literally hundreds of times higher, but it's not race).

I don't think racism is implied in laws that apply to both races. I would think the people executing them are the actual racists if any. OR maybe black people could simply avoid falling prey to these traps. Not committing crime is a good start. Maybe not killing each other will yield better results than demonizing the state because they target the more likely offenders. And that's assuming that they do, and it's not just black people coming from black communities watching white people sending them to prison and getting the wrong ideas about the world.

You....might not be qualified to argue this. People were mad at Bush. The Obama reaction has been much different and--unlike with Bush--launched actual legislative movements that were not rooted in anything coming out of the administration.

Hey, maybe it is? I'm just saying. We have (had, she got voted out) a female prime minister and most of the negative comments about her were either thoroughly justified or simply slander to promote the opposing party instead of simply being because of sexism or anything like that. I would think that this is something that happens a lot in politics in general.
