After rewatching The Wire it got me thinking about Hamsterdam, how they took the d--- dealers out of public places and threw them in vacant places where they couldn't bother the law abiding public... Then I went on Facebook and my newsfeed was a sea of uninformed political opinions and I started thinking we should make a social media hamsterdam. Throw all of the political posts on Myspace or maybe even AOL.

Could this group be any more unorganized? How the f--- are you going to demand that jobs disregard criminal history or the ability to hire/fire/discipline cops as you please and expect to be taken seriously?

Edit: it's so ridiculous that it's not even worth engaging them.

Reparations for slavery is the only one here that's pretty ridiculous. The rest are reasonable. I don't think "there's a war on black people", so much as a war on poor people in general, but it's hard to argue with most of the list.

Well yeah because they're not suggestions, they're demands. There's an inherent threat when something is being demanded. But just to play devil's advocate, lets look at them as "suggestions" (despite the fact that, again, they aren't.)
Doesn't exist. End the war on the men and women risking their lives to protect society and put bad people behind bars. That's my "suggestion" to these thugs.

Insane. This is nothing more than asking for money because they can. Should we just, as the white race, give money to people of other races just because a small percentage owned and used slaves? What does this even mean in context to their "demands"? Is there a set percentage? Who's paying? Who does it go to? What is it used for? Why should someone who's ancestors faught and died to free slaves then have to pay the people whos ancestors were freed? How does a monetary value set things right? It's impractical and it's hamfistedly asking for a handout.

    From their own website:
    1. Reparations for the continued divestment from, discrimination toward and exploitation of our communities in the form of a guaranteed minimum livable income for all Black people, with clearly articulated corporate regulations.
They want to get minimum wage just for being black.

    1. A reallocation of funds at the federal, state and local level from policing and incarceration (JAG, COPS, VOCA) to long-term safety strategies such as education, local restorative justice services, and employment programs.
A nice goal (if it's going to benefit all of society) in the long term, but what about short term? Understaff the people who are keeping things safe in the meantime on the hope that the next generation won't become criminals and take advantage of a lack of funding for these institutes? Let the inmates run the asylum for now, because it might get better one day if the current generation decides to stick with it and not take shortcuts?

    1. The retroactive decriminalization, immediate release and record expungement of all drug related offenses and prostitution, and reparations for the devastating impact of the “war on drugs” and criminalization of prostitution, including a reinvestment of the resulting savings and revenue into restorative services, mental health services, job programs and other programs supporting those impacted by the sex and drug trade.
"Let us break the law. It's only fair." I'm not even arguing for or against legalization of drugs and prostitution, that's besides the point here. You can't just say "well, a lot of the black people are in jail for drugs, so make it not illegal to sell drugs!" The rules are in place and regardless of any circumstances, the individuals that are locked up right now each knew, and understood the concept of the laws and chose to break them. They are criminals and we can argue all day over whether or not the laws in place are good ones or not, but the fact is that the laws are what they are and they made the choice to go outside of them.

This is just government mandated reperations. Who has to give up their own property and money so that these people get whatever they deem as "justice"? This is literally communism.

    1. Direct democratic community control of local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, ensuring that communities most harmed by destructive policing have the power to hire and fire officers, determine disciplinary action, control budgets and policies, and subpoena relevant agency information.
..They want the ones...who are breaking the law..to be in on determining the ones who are enforcing the law? What the f--- is that gobbledy gook? Why would you make the enforcement of law democratic? Criminals should get no say in how the law is played out.

    1. An end to the privatization of education and real community control by parents, students and community members of schools including democratic school boards and community control of curriculum, hiring, firing and discipline policies.
Isn't this more on the parents themselves? Why is this an outward demand? This should be an internal goal of the movement and communities in which they live to do, not an outward demand. And it's a capitalist world, if someone wants to offer a private school for a specific learning environment, that's a service that they are allowed to offer and I don't see a reason why the option to offer it should be taken away just because of a list of demands "suggestions".
    1. An end to the criminalization of Black political activity including the immediate release of all political prisoners and an end to the repression of political parties.
They wouldn't be in there if they weren't, you know, being criminals in the first place. killing police, creating obstructive protests and threatening society with a f---ing LIST OF DEMANDS sure sounds pretty criminal to me.

    1. Public financing of elections and the end of money controlling politics through ending super PACs and unchecked corporate donations.
The first point I actually agree with.

    1. Full access to technology including net neutrality and universal access to the internet without discrimination and full representation for all.
I'm with you on net neutrality but
It sounds to me like they want, on top of free property and government mandated reparations, free fibreop as well. Go to a library if you can't afford the internet. Go to a god d--- McDonald's. It's pretty hard to walk down a commercial street and not find free wifi.

Yeah but I'm a peaceful young white man who shows respect and has morals. I understand the world is not fair and I don't beg for hand outs or cry about things not going my way.

    Lol, gonna be a classic.

They didn't say so I'm assuming it's the usual for them, you know block traffic, harass citizens that probably actually support your cause and destroy property in the communities.

when should they then? whats your solution? i don't give a s--- about being "correct" or whatever, if I'm looking to hire a new designer or account manager under me i want to know that person isn't convicted of selling drugs or on drugs themselves. i need to rely and depend on that person for the future of my business that I invested my life, and my life savings into. I have a right to know that persons criminal background if I want to hire them.

Same goes for a f---ing wal mart manager. If a person is trying to get a job stocking shelves, I'd want to know if they've got a history of theft. It's just absurd to want to abolish background checks.

i mean i get where tony's coming from. if life was perfect i'd be getting minimum wage for breathing, free land and free internet to boot, as well as changing the law so that whatever laws i break retroactively get changed so i'm not a criminal anymore. that'd be perfect. unfortunately I don't have a movement behind me.
