    a lot of these are good suggestions. So many of you are tied up over the word "demands" you're not looking at the actual content. Smh.

    BLM should take a good, hard look at how Roy Innis and members of CORE were able to accomplish things.

    lol what an organisation filled with cooked c----.

    errrrr not really imo. It creates a bigger divide. for example;
    In another, the groups demand “an end to the criminalization, incarceration, and killing of our people,” which includes abolishing capital punishment and eliminating the use of past criminal histories to determine eligibility for jobs and other services.
    Notice how they want the reform for "their people". so what, white people get the s--- end of the stick if they have past criminal history?

    And how would this;
    In one demand, the coalition calls for “community control,” in which they say residents in neighborhoods “most harmed by destructive policing” should have the power to hire and fire police officers and dole out discipline in cases of misconduct related to excessive and deadly force.

    help troubled communities at all?

    I'm over it....things aren't going to change because a small group of people say so. This is the most childish way to do things.

    This is such a reach and you know it lol. If a law came into effect that eliminated the use of criminal history in determining someone's eligibility for a job, you're not going to see BLM protesting that white people dont deserve it.

    I'm not sure if you're familiar with the practices of community policing and civilian review boards but that's what this sounds like which would be great! There needs to be a bond built between civilians and police in this country. Police need to feel apart of the community they are policing and civilians need to believe that police will be held accountable if they overstep their boundaries. This is a great way to go about that.

    How's it a reach, a Black Lives Matter group wants no criminal history checks against "our people" the way it is worded is poor at best. Yeah ofc they wont protest against white people getting it, but the way it is worded it is pretty one sided.

    Yeah Police getting involved with the Community is great and is probably the first step to fixing your f---ing gigantic problem. But I don't think
    >"residents in neighborhoods “most harmed by destructive policing” should have the power to hire and fire police officers and dole out discipline in cases of misconduct related to excessive and deadly force."

    >"residents should have the power to hire and fire police"

    Alright then, we're in agreement. It shouldn't be a shocker that Black Lives Matters is speaking on the behalf of black people.

    I don't necessarily agree that residents should have complete power in who gets hired/fired but I do think they should have a say in who is policing their community.

    BLM should have obviously come up with a better way to do this and not call them 'demands.'

    Not people's fault they chose such an awful way to do this, anyone could have seen calling labeling them 'demands' wouldn't help. BLM is making more people racist tbh, guessing that wasn't exactly their plan.

    Or people can get past the title and actually read what they have to say? A group that's raising awareness of institutional racism is making people more racist? I think privileged people need to just get over themselves.

    lol my point was labeling it demands is not a good title to throw on there, people are gonna be turned off before they even read it, if they even bother to read it.

    Also I find it hard to believe you don't understand what I mean about BLM making more people racist, read the comments on basically any website, news or other wise..Plenty of people are against this and a small number of those people are turning into racists.

    Could this group be any more unorganized? How the f--- are you going to demand that jobs disregard criminal history or the ability to hire/fire/discipline cops as you please and expect to be taken seriously?

    Edit: it's so ridiculous that it's not even worth engaging them.

    No, I get what you're saying -- I just don't think it's a legitimate critique. BLM is trying to address serious issues that are effecting millions of people's lives. Are we suppose to be offended that they're making demands?

    Can make all the demands they want, but if they'd like any of them to actually happen than they should probably be careful on how they word them

    Whether it's a legit critique or not doesn't really matter imo, their choice to label it that is gonna have far less people reading what they say and far more people laughing at them.
