It seems like being edgy people on here think makes them look mature or something. While I agree some rappers come off as genuinely corny like Hopsin, Macklemore, MGK, G Eazy, Tech N9ne, Immortal Technique, etc, most if not all of the other lyrical miracle or backpack rappers people trash on here aren't corny whatsoever.

Like people are really saying Kendrick Lamar, one the best mcs of this era is corny because of the praise TPAB got. Fyi trying to even out reception by shi--ing on something or someone is f---ing stupid. It doesn't make you look smarter at all. Theres people here who would vote for Playboy Carti if he was in a poll vs J Cole. Eminem, one of the greatest lyricists to touch a mic is seen as inferior to f---ing Plies on here. I just don't understand. After the corny Kendrick thread was featured I was through lol

Do you hate the rappers or do you really just hate the fans and try to spite them?

I love sx80 but the fact that a lot of rappers i consider serious artists (like IT, Tech, Royce) are frowned and looked down upon...I wish this unwarranted hate would end

first of all "consciousness" =/= lyrical, let's just get that out of the way
secondly, because shut the f--- up. no one wants to hear the same gay 4thastreets s--- from some nobody who thinks hes profound and shining light on a struggle. Music is fun. It doesn't need a deeper meaning, and not everyone who has one can make a good song out of it.

Tech N9ne is a legend regardless of how his music comes off or who his fans are so he at the very least deserves respect.

The outro to I Am A God is one of my favs on Yeezus. Great song, but yeah it's sooo much better when playing the album in full.

I can't imagine liking encore more than Yeezus. Would prolly k--- myself.

Might put Peep Show to shame. Don't think anyone would've blame 50 for breaking off their friendship after Marshall gave him that verse.

"lyrical" people dont get hate here, its just we have to acknowledge the fact we have big community that still stuck in the past that like very s-----y rappers and wont accept that they are s---..its not like we didnt give royce a chance, he is just a bad version of soundcloud rappers

i think there's a major inherent flaw with conscious rappers, a lot of the time they're coming from a place of intellectual superiority and the way they approach a lot of subjects is as if they're trying to preach, or "enlighten" people (hence the term conscious). it's so arrogant and annoying to hear, and it's arrogant and annoying to hear their fans try and preach their favorite rapper's superiority for preaching. now every individual with a s-----y background feels like they have the need, and more importantly ability to tell their story like they're some kind of unique porthole into that world.

obviously that doesn't 1:1 fit every single rapper labeled conscious but it's a flaw that exists in a lot of them

There's elitism in all circles. It's mostly blowback from that stretch of time where every Youtube comment was about "real hip-hop".

literally the exact opposite. people poopoo wayne and thug because "ITS JUST MONEY b------s AND COKE :^) HOW IMMATURE, I LIKE MY RAP TO BE REAL SO I ONLY LISTEN TO SONGS ABOUT THE STRUGGLE"

literally "I only listen to mature music for mature adults, such as myself!"

even using "lyrical miracle" as a term to define the rappers your defending is defeating your own argument, lol. why are you trying to use a negative trope in an argument for something not being corny? that's so counter productive. also spiritual lyrical miracle rap =/= conscious rap, so again i think you're fighting two different battles here.

btw who is "most if not all other" rappers being trashed that fit this scope? because it seems to me you're just talking about kendrick in particular.

no, i say he's corny because he did a really, really corny thing in hitting tupac up thru a ouiji board and getting his cosign for that bizarre interview at the end of TPAB, because if any other rapper in the world, ANY other rapper did that they'd be laughed straight out of the industry. Not a single rapper who's name isn't kendrick lamar would have gotten away with that. And to throw it on the end of an album that he calls a jazz record or whatever the f--- pretentious bs he labeled it as was just so lame and cornball.

idk what this sentence means so imma dead this item

the difference between people who like and actively seek conscious rap and those who don't are that the ones who don't don't listen to music to make themselves look smarter. they don't even affiliate intelligence with music taste because that's f---ing r-----ed.

it's a tired [heh] cliche at this point, but the reason people would vote against j cole is because j cole is s---.

eminem has never at any point even been the "greatest" "lyricist" alive, let alone of all time. he's only gone hill since his prime and right now he's just a joke. of course he's inferior to all types of rappers. he's washed up.

i dont base music i like on the other people that listen to it, i base it on whether im enjoying listening to it, and listening to hood sob story #4108 isn't fun anymore after 20 years of the same s--- from the same types of lames

Lyrical rap is boring most of the time, I don't give a f--- about how many words you can string together. That's why Royce sucks, dude just raps, that's it, there's nothing interesting about his music.

Honestly you shouldn't care what people on an internet forum think, like what you want and move on,

I don't agree with a lot of people here, but i mean at the end of the day it's just music, and some people, whether they're in the sxn 80 community or not take it way too seriously
