I liked the CD packaging for the deluxe edition more than the album.

    What does that word mean
Since when is this the criteria for a record being good?
How do you make this argument about an album that goes out of its way to confound expectations? What are you talking about? Do you change your arguments as you type them

Really good era tbh. Summer of 2010 was lit and the next year was even more lit, WTT shut the whole summer down

You're focusing on a typo? Really? Aren't you above that?

I didn't say that was the criteria for a record being good. In fact, one of my first sentences was me saying the record is good lol.

WTT is both artists playing it incredibly safe. Look at Kanye's discography around that time. 808 to MBDTF to Yeezus and now Pablo. WTT easily falls into Graduation territory for him.

My point, is that it's an overrated album, especially when looking at the talent involved. This project is the very definition of "weaker than the sum of it's parts". I f---ing LOVE both of these artists, and as a fan, I was expecting more. I'm genuinely surprised you weren't.

I just don't see how an album discussing the topics WTT covers, by two of the biggest music stars in the world, can be considered "playing it safe"

You're aware of what the lead single was, right? And that there was exactly one (1) soul sample?

So how exactly can an album be "fan service" when it's essentially the opposite of what fans expected and wanted? It got a tepid reaction at the time and is still pretty divisive.

What I meant by fan service is that it's not as ambitious as other projects from their respective discographies.

Can you explain to me how Watch the Throne is "less ambitious" than the Jay Z albums that came immediately before and after it

You said in your write up that Jays involvement was less than Kanye's. MCHG and BP3 suffer from the same issues I have with WTT. I don't think displaying the similarities between The Throne and Blueprint 3 proves your argument. It does the opposite.

    "Displaying the similarities"

I'm saying--and this should be obvious to anyone with any sort of grasp on English--that this isn't as conservative as BP3.

How many times are you going to move the goalposts?

    "This is fan service"

"Well I mean, no, it went against what people wanted from them"

    "It's not ambitious"

"Well, it's very obviously more ambitious than the Jay albums that came before or after"

    "Jay doesn't count"
