Spot on. Great read, and it is indeed in the top of both their catalogs.

Jay, the center of the rap universe for more than a decade, is free to alter his game and play to his remaining strengths. It’s what the optimists think Jordan did with the Wizards.

Watch the Throne continues to be monsterously overrated. It's a good album. It's an enjoyable album. But it's not the product that I would expect from two of the greatest hip hop artists to ever live.

WTT isn't a defining moment in either artists' catalogue. It feels more like fan service from artists who have made careers out of forging their own direction, DESPITE fan expectations. Especially in Kanye's case.

This project doesn't reflect the best of Kanye or Jay Z, and I think that's why the eventual sequel sparks so little interest from fans. I'd much rather see the future of their solo careers, than get another collab that I'll forget about in a year.

Thanks for the insight "prhyme," but WTT2 has been speculated about for years now with no real reason to think it even exists, so it's safe to say it sparks a ton of interest from fans

I honestly don't get what people wanted from WTT other than what we got. It's perfect for what it is

This came out days before my life as an undergrad started, so many warm memories of this album. I had to work early as h--- so my first listen of WTT was in the car, this was the only time I've ever blasted music that loud at 7AM lol that first listen of NIP was mind-blowing.

Imagine having Pryhme as your f---in avy and dismissing WTT.

Album is still great 5 years later. Been awhile since I listened so I'm definitely gonna check it out today. @Soldier WTT should be one of the next listening sessions.

    good read, WPG.

i tend to agree with what @PRHYME said, though. i think its a pretty good record, but to me its not special or anything to get excited about. that said, i'd imagine that making a collab album is probably more difficult because you have to make each artists style gel onto one album and that's probably not an easy task.
