Read an excerpt from their story below and expect more information to arrive soon:
Jxmmi shifts in his chair and sighs. “I already know the industry been wanting to ask that question,” he says. “The whole industry going to do s--- to separate us. We got separate tracks, because we can both rap.” Moments later, he says he won’t release his solo material, “because I don’t want to satisfy the world like that.”
But Swae Lee admits that he has a possible album in the works, “a r-----ed project called Swaecation,” he says. “I have eight songs right now that I feel like are candidates for the project, but I gotta make sure they’re all up to par.”
“When we say solo projects, we say chances for the fans to get to see us individually. But we’re still Sremmed out. We might put them on the same disc—who knows? We definitely got different projects that we’re working on and tweaking.

Swae Lee has been putting himself to work as a solo artist since the release of Rae Sremmurd’s SremmLife 2 album last year. The Ear Drummer signee is gearing up to drop a solo project outside of the popular hip-hop duo, which apparently will be titled Swaecation.
The Mississippi native posted videos on Instagram, where he previews some new solo music for fans, which follows in the footsteps of his lauded performance on French Montana’s “Unforgettable” record. After displaying his vocals on the hit single, Swae fans have been encouraging him to do a solo project, and Swaecation will cater strictly to that.
“I got s--- coming for y’allcan’t wait #swaecation,” Lee wrote on Instagram.
In another video on social media, the hip-hop star announced the project, revealing that it would be “coming soon.”
“Swaecation coming soon. Swaecation got all the bangers. Coming soon,” he told fans.
Tons of fans and outlets have been anticipating a solo project from Lee, and Joe Budden stoked the flames during a recent episode of Complex’s Everyday Struggle this week (June 21). While debating the potential winners for the Best Collaboration category of the upcoming BET Awards, Joe Budden mentioned that Rae Sremmurd “broke up” when he read off “Black Beatles” on the nominees list.
“Rae Sremmurd broke up, so I’m not going with ‘Black Beatles,'” he bluntly stated. “If they didn’t announce it yet, I’m sorry.”
While there’s no official confirmation that the duo has actually split, Budden has been predicting a solo career for Lee on the Complex web series for a few weeks after praising his performance on “Unforgettable.” While his predictions appear to be correct, it doesn’t necessarily mean that this is the end for Rae Sremmurd’s music future as a group.
