Oct 8, 2016 Just wanted to give some time to appreciate the albums that got me through this year.. Thankfully there was a lot of great music this year and it keeps coming. Lets take a look: Blank Face LP - ScHoolboy Q Although Q changed his route of gangsta/hustlin sounds to a more of a TPAB inspired album, he managed to keep me from play #1. The beat picking was excellent and the way he executed also. Changes mood from track to track, from street anthems (ride out) to laid back and chill on some backwoods (by any means). Favorite tracks: Torch, Lord Have Mercy, Groovy Tony/Eddie Kane John Muir, Str8 Ballin THC - Mick Jenkins I dont have much to say really cause I pretty much got into him with this album. I can only remember how magical the first play was.. The mood he sets is perfect. He executes its track with a unique feeling. Probably thats what I love the most about it, besides production. Def deserves more attention. Favorite tracks: The Healing Component, Daniels Bloom, Drowning, Communicate (I'll stop before i write the whole tracklist) Islah - Kevin Gates Also an artist that I got into this year and with this album. From play uno I just wanted to play this album again and again! Pretty much the project speaks for itself. Gates went through with no features, delivering an excellent album and managed to hit plat. I dont have much to say just go and listen this s---. Favorite tracks: Not The Only One, Pride, Hard For, Told Me Views - Drake Well till now I could only listen to Take Care by him cause I loved it. Then Views came and I remember loving the most tracks of it. At some point it totally lost replay value for me and I was kinda disappointed. Then it clicked again and now its playin a fair amount on my album rotation. Favorite tracks: U With Me, Hype, Weston Roads Flow, Redemption Atrocity Exhibition - Danny Brown Well I have to say it took a few plays to hit me but man this is probably my favorite album of this year. Production is crazy, Danny is hilarious and the way the tracks transit from one to another giving us snaps from his life and drug issues is amazing. This will probably rock my speakers for good this and the next year. Favorite tracks: Rolling Stone, Lost, Aint It Funny, White Lines, Dance In The Water and the whole album (wanted to post ''Lost'' but couldnt find a decent vid) I still hope there will be a spot for the new Soulo project tho Thanks for your time guys, I just wanted to share this. Feel free to post your favorite projects below and let me know if you agree.
