And it turned out to be the album that inspired a new generation of.artists. Drake, Cudi, etc. So I think that compensates for the critics not getting it initially.

I have this questionable opinion that I am not a huge fan of Yeezus and consider it worse than MBDTF and I also think TLOP is not close to MBDTF. But overal I agree Kanye has been consistent and Kendrick shined on GKMC and S80. After those I lost interest mostly.

While Kanye definitely has hit a classic status with his output I feel he fell off a lot with TLOP- his lyrics have become trash especially since we know he can do better (low brow lyrics while not overall consistent on yeezus at least fit the rough aesthetic) and features like his godawful one on Schoolboy's That Part are making him into a ridiculous clown- and if it continues this way he may begin to dilute his initial greatness with mediocrity Stephen King/ Coppola style. Kendrick isn't a producer so I don't know how comparable itll be but I imagine he just has to release two more great albums to solidify himself at Kanye level especially if Kanye continues to sabotage his own legacy. Kendrick's lyricism is probably not gonna get worse and his production will probably not suffer a drop in quality since he works with/ changes up producers in his projects. The only question is what will he actually tackle on his next projects? Where can he go? But if he decides to go somewhere I'll trust it'll be something worthwhile.

Yeezus is his worst solo project in my opinion but it's still a great album, and one album doesn't count as a drop off for me.

I like yeezus but Tlop was bad for me- like he's losing his dedication and perfectionism and I guess it just seems like a gradual drop in quality in lyrics like he doesn't care anymore which for me is really really disappointing. FACTS was terrifying.

TLOP is a masterpiece though, even if its his worst album yet thats just cause the standards have been set so high by him, still a great album

Kendricks feature quality has completely fell off the map, he from from dropping s--- like his verses on collard greens, blessed, nosetalgia etc. to s--- like goosebumps, im ya dogg, really doe, etc.

s80 and gkmc are both leagues ahead of tpab and UU also, its like he forgot what made him so good in the first place

Idk. Kanye's fan base is pretty obsessive so I don't think there is a number where everyone will come to a consensus.

yea it seemed like he was uninspired while working on shmg/swish/tlop
some songs sounds so lazy and other are really great
whole thing sounds just like a mixtape not an album

Saint Pablo, Waves, 30 Hours, FSMH Pt. 1, Ultralight Beam, are all some of his best work. I understnad why TLOP doesn't satisfy some, but it's in my top 3 AOTY. Beautiful listen front to back.

Kendrick is going to have to suddenly start recording 6 classic albums in a row in order to somehow compete with Kanye

Actually, Kendrick is better than Kanye right now in my opinion. But Kendrick only has 2 studio albums. He has to release at least 2 more good albums to be mentioned with names like Kanye's.
