Is it safe to say Eminem is the best ever if it comes to bars?
I'm not talking about flow or music, just bars.

"Campaign Speech" leaves no doubt on this. He went crazy af with these rhyme schemes there.

    Discuss.

I couldn't make it past a minute into that campaign speech. Eminem is a legend but it's over now man. Over. He's in his forties using s--- beats and spitterific rhyme patterns like that's enjoyable to anyone but stans and real rap Hopsin fans.

Maybe I'm being too hard on Em. But I was let down by that cringefest.

To be real though I'm gonna listen to his new album regardless just for the hope I get the Eminem that got abandoned somewhere in the mid 2000s. That man is a legend.

i don't think Em has the best bars at all tbh, a lot of his popular tracks don't even have a lot of wordplay and all that s---, to me he's one of the best rhymers we've ever seen though, can literally rhyme 2 words so un-alike and make it flow (well he used to)

I think he's mastered many aspects of rap and music in general over the years but this freestyle is really the rappity rap lyrical miracle stuff he used to deride.

His albums have always come through for me though so I'm not bothered by this freestyle, even if I don't really like it.

I think Eminem is too popular for his own good. He can't play around without the mass public misinterpreting it.

This is my take, except I actually loved the freestyle. I thought it was f---ing awesome. It's a freestyle, there's nothing to it, it's just bars. It's not indicative of what his album will sound like, just like Despicable was not indicative of what Rexovery's subject matter would be like. Get a grip pals.

None of it matters if you can't make something that is enjoyable to listen to.

Honesty not joking at all-- I think he has flat out gave up on making "music". Sad.

Also...Eminem has never been nor will he ever be the best at 'bars'. In fact, that has been the weakest part of his career. He avoided them early on, and has wrote cringe garbage bars from 2010-now.

In reality a more accurate accolade for him would be best at rhyming words together, which he probably is at this point. Fair.

This entire thread is just a farce, I'm sorry.

I think the definition of bars themselves are the same for everyone.

But when people talk about quality of bars....hot lines, quotables, smart quips

Eminem has cringe stuff like "I'm as underground as a groundhog and imma gopher mine!" And sometimes like in this freestyle it takes a dictionary to understand what he's trying to say and by that point no one cares because it's too complex and doesn't sound like good music either.

That line wasn't cringe at all tho. That's like a 2 on the eminem cringe scale but I'd agree otherwise. He's too interested in showing how much better he is at crafting complex things to care that it ruins the experience for anyone not overly interested in technical a--- rap

I think that the quality of a bar in rap is how well it rhymes and just the lyrical skill in the bar. I think that a hot line is a hot line. You can have a couple hot bars but you can also have a rapper like Eminem be the best rapper when it comes to strictly bars and be right because no one is nearly as good as him at putting two bars together.
