    i feel you a few posts above, i aint gonna act like i dont chill and watch movies and s--- with my girl like a human being, but folding clothes is all cringe. he knew what he was doing. he knows thats gonna be all over the internet with those cringy soft a--- quotables. he made the whole song around this, one verse woulda been cool, not the whole f---ing song.

    foldin clothes isn't literally, about folding clothes, it could've been anything.
    folding clothes is a metaphor for doing things in your relationship, valuing your partner, respecting them and tending to them as you were folding clothes, keep that s--- clean.

    nah fam, not the way he spits in the song, n----- meant what he said. (thats when cole can be at his best)
    dont try to make that s--- seem like its deep, it is what it is. he coulda made that song way deeper than what it is. he decided to make it the hottest meme song of 2016/17

    im going off what you said about the meaning. yeah it coulda and shoulda been something like that, but he literally says

    aint more meaning to it than that. if he meant it like you should love your spouse by doing little things etc. he woulda went in a different direction.
    this song about his expereince during the pregnancy, which is cool and all but not one whole d--- song about this bs lol

    better. FHD i revisited after just under 2 years the other day, and the thing is, it's actually a really bad album. more misses than hits, most of it is carried by the production, and some of the songs on that joint have no redeeming qualities (hello for example).

    the thing about 4 your eyez is that he made it 45 minutes long at only ten tracks. he stuck to a narrative religiously throughout, and his writing is actually pretty concise for the most part. in other words, he made a quick and easy to digest album. it's not layered, it's only surface deep, but he chose a theme/story and stuck to it. so it's a step forward for him from anything he's ever made.

    but i don't know if this is actually a good album or not, because a) once you take in the story, there is nothing on here worth coming back too. its a 45 minute album, and at least 2-3 songs are questionable. if he was going to make a project that short, he had no room for error. so while songs like ville mentality and folding clothes stick to the theme/narrative, one is elevator music and the other is ... i don't even know what the f--- folding clothes is.

    FHD is more ambitious than this album tho.

    cole isnt breaking any ground on this joint, and borrowing formulas from acclaimed albums over the last 3 or so years.

    this album feels like a diet version of summer time 06, gkmc, TPAB to me. maybe even prima donna

    i was saying 7 last night, but the more i sit with it and realize i'm already done with this album after 1 day of listening, i have a hard time giving it more than like a 6.5/10. but i hate rating albums in the first day because i'm wrong 100% of the time lol.

    6.5/10 was my rating for FHD tho

    one thing is though, i feel like this is the best cole has in him as a solo rapper. and that's kind of sad to me because i used to stan this guy.

    he did an excellent job creating a concept album, but in sticking to his concept, he forwent some of the charm from his old albums. sideline story is a unanimously sub-par album, but at least it has songs i still want to come back to (in the morning, lights please etc.)

    it's like he could never get all of it to fall in place at the same time.

    FHD:
    concise theme: fail
    good singles/moments: pass

    eyez:
    concise theme: pass
    good singles/moments: fail

    idk man cole is good, but short of great to me. this is his 4th crack at a studio album, and he still hasn't topped pablo (the album he wrote a love/hate letter for).

    early but if we're treating every album as 'one song' this is the best one.
    every bar on this album correlates directly to the theme of the album, unlike his other albums.
