Have you watched the 30 for 30 documentary on broke athletes? It is scary how fast they go broke.

Its debatable yea. Lets not forget Kobe going out in the most Kobe way possible, Peyton riding out in the sunset, and that Villanova NC finish

such a weird year for Peyton. Breaks the all-time passing record, wins a Super Bowl yet has a stat line that makes Blake Bortles look like an All-Pro in comparison

I agree with OP.. also on a more negative note we lost the GOAT Ali which is obviously huge for sports

Yeah it was a great year for sure. NBA Finals kinda s----d minus the last few minutes of game 7 though. The World Series is one of the best I have ever watched, it doesn't get any better than extra innings in game 7 with a rain delay with both teams in HUGE championship droughts.

The UFC was kind of a s--- show this year, but in an entertaining and exciting way. Upsets are great, but they kind of devalue the sport to some degree when every other main event is a blow out the other way. Not to mention injury pull outs on like every other main event.

Conor getting two belts was a PR stunt, He's a great fighter, but the organization bent over backwards to facilitate it. No, he's not bigger than the promotion that makes most of the money he generates. He's getting turnt out pretty d--- hard.

Boxing was okay. The first several months of 2017 look to eclipse it with fights like Thurman-Garcia, GGG-Jacobs, Klitschko-Joshua, Franmpton-Santa Cruz II, etc. Not to mention speculative stuff like a Ward-Kovalev rematch and Chocalatito-Inoue.

tbh it was good for me just cause Connor. being 1/4 irish and my best mates dad being a full blooded irish coont was absolutely sicking T-ing up pubs or BBQs to watch the Connor fight and scream "OOOOOOOOLAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYY OLAY OLAY OLAY OOOOOOOOOOOOLAAAAAAAYYYYYY" when piss blind drunk and getting kicked out of pubs was mad fucken fun, Connor spat that real and brough sports back from the dead, revived that 90s golden era fambos.

Have to add Manning coming back after being benched for Brock to win a Super Bowl against a Panthers team that looked unstoppable with the league MVP Cam Newton. Arguably the GOAT QB's final game winning the Super Bowl. Was huge.

Would also add Kobe retiring the way he did and the Rio Olympics and all of the dope athletes there.
