    Trump's executive order on stripping federal funds from sanctuary cities was struck down by a federal judge.

    Printz v United States. The federal government cannot force the states to enforce federal laws. This is why states are allowed to legalize marijuana even though at the federal level, it's an illegal substance.

    Sessions can take all those funds away and throw everyone involved in state sanctioned marijuana in jail through the Supremacy Clause. This is a test that will show if Sessions really believes in State Rights or if he just likes Jim Crow and Slavery.

    So Trump suggested today that the Civil War could have been "worked out" and questioned why it happened. Yes, I'm sure the north and south could have found a middle ground on slavery and everyone would live happily ever after, am I right? Smh...

    A basic understanding of U.S. history totally throws this out the window. The south's entire economy was dependent on slavery. They knew that if it was abolished, they would suffer and take a hit. Lincoln wanted to contain the spread of slavery [from spreading west] because in his mind, if the the act was contained to the south, it would die out over time. The south wanted slavery to spread to insure it would remain present in the country. The south wasn't going to budge. They were staunchly against even the idea of phasing out of slavery over time.

    He actually said "If Andrew Jackson was a little later there would have been no Civil War."


    Andrew Jackson left office 24 years before the Civil War.

    He was dead 16 years before the Civil War.


    He was a Slave Owner.


    He basically genocided the Native Americans... Nothing Trump said makes any kind of sense... As usual.

    and in fact he nearly caused the civil war during his presidency due to his handling of the nullification crisis lol. and certainly his actions - including appointing the SCOTUS chief who wrote Dred Scott - at least in directly contributed to the actual Civil War occurring. It all reverberates.

    There's levels to how stupid it is.

    But in the end Trump reveres Jackson for having 200 slaves and killing a bunch of Injuns...
    Maybe.

    It's funny how the same intellectually dishonest Republicans who pretend to be ignorant of the Southern Strategy, brag about Martin Luther King Sr.* being a Republican were just starting to use Jackson to bash Democrats for being "the real racists" with the "racist past"... Then Trump comes along and completely hero worships Ol' Hick... Puts his portrait in the Oval Office and makes it's a center piece... Solemnly lays a wreath at Jackson's grave... All the while not even really knowing anything about him... It's like he asked some kid at Breitbart which President he should pretend to admire or something.

    There would be no government shut down if Andrew Jackson came a lot later... He saw what was going on with this goverment shutdown and he was very angry in regards to it.
