Eminem Best Posts: 'No Favors' verse is indefensible

    K finally got around to listening to the Sean album and I thought people were exaggerating before I heard it but my god this actually might be his worst verse of all time.

    1. I doubt this verse was even recorded over this instrumental. It has nothing to do with the subject of the song and sounds awkward over what's an otherwise great beat.

    2. Big Sean is the biggest p---- ever for putting this on his album. Imagine asking another rapper to be on a song with you and he sends you a this random acapella that wasn't recorded over the same instrumental.

    3. It sounds like a freestyle not only because it's about nothing, but because it sounds like it was his first time rapping this and didn't know how to fit the words together to flow on beat. Kanye mumble verse reference tracks flow better and sound more on beat than this.

    4. Neuters his own anti-Trump "message" by talking about raping/beating women multiple times in the same verse.

    5. He literally lists off random objects to fill up bars, not once, but twice:
    And f--- Ann Coulter with a Klan poster
    With a lamp post, door handle, shutter
    A d--- bolt cutter, a sandal, a can opener, a candle, rubber
    Piano, a flannel, sucker, some hand soap, butter
    A banjo and manhole cover

    Said I put her face in the furnace, beat her with a space heater
    A piece of furniture, egg beater, thermos

    I wasn't expecting this to be any good, but even beyond the lyrics themselves I don't understand how anyone can defend this as a piece of music. It's unlistenable.

    I assure you, if any other rapper did that verse, they would be laughed out of the industry. But since it's Eminem, I guess he gets a pass from the industry despite being completely unlistenable.

    Like he has songs about nothing that I don't personally like but understand why they would be appealing to other people, but this irredeemable...lyrically, musically, everythingally.

    How come his vocals sound like they put no processing or effects or anything on them. After the perfect mastering of Sean's verse he comes in with his goblin a--- voice sounding like he's sitting in a closet recording

    Well his subject was on point.. He is going to do the world "no favors" by not changing the way he raps. That's why he talks about celebrities/violence. He's been doing that s--- since '99. The Jamie Lee Curtis stanza is called stacking syllables which he has been playing with the last couple years. Each line has less and less syllables until it dies off at one word which is "thermos". His whole tirade on Ann Coulter goes along with the "I saw them eyes (sodomize), like an a--- r---r" line.. hes going to "sodomize" her with all of those things.. he also implies she's racist with the "klan poster".

    There is some clever wordplay and good subject matter in here too with the lines about people copping his style, the pit bull double entendre, the hernandez/brady lines, the 2pac reference, the police brutality message, the white bronco stanza, the Michael Myers reference, etc.

    His flow was a little unconventional and felt a little choppy, but I think overall the lyrics were pretty good. A lot people's first reaction was to hate it completely because they don't understand what he is talking about or the message he was trying to get across. I think this verse was way over-hyped, but I don't think its the worst verse of all time.. that's a little bit of an over reaction..

    There.. i defended it.. can I get a medal now? I wonder how many people I'm going to piss off with this post.. lmao :thinkinghmmm:

    BC describes it perfectly. Sadly it's a pretty garbage verse, banana peel, empty chips bag, used tampon, cat litter, dirty diaper, dead spider, ... manhole cover!!

    about a week ago i said he needs to leave his house because his content is becoming literally s--- he sees in his house+rare references of fast food places when he leaves the house cause hes hungry. this is evidence of that.

    At least in Brainless he offers SOME context for the mouth diarrhea, being that as a kid his head was full of random s--- or whatever. This verse is like something an Eminem fan would write

    The random words thing is what I hate the most. Like in Brainless when he goes into that stupid "a doorhinge, syringe, wrench, ninja sword" random nonsense. It's incredibly lazy and not impressive at all.

    What makes things worse here is with just the title "No Favors" he should have been able to come up with a topic that fits. I'm usually defending his verses and I actually enjoy Campaign Speech, but this verse is really bad. No effort was put into it at all.

    depends on why he's calling Trump a b---- though. he hasn't said "Trump's a b---- for sexually assaulting women/degrading women!" at that point it would be considered heavily hypocritical imo

    regardless, like CA said it's not like Eminem is actually going out and assaulting woman while Trump has been accused of doing that multiple times. Eminem is saying what he's saying for entertainment. and he's not the president of the united states lol

    I guess it all depends on how you wanna look at it.

    I don't think it's exactly a huge leap of faith to say that it's kinda hypocritical to talk about sexually assaulting women in the same verse he criticizes our president who has been accused of and bragged about sexually assaulting women.
