Feb 15, 2017 As a kid, he was my favorite rapper. But lately, I haven't been able to enjoy 90% of his discography. Some of the songs I used to have on a daily rotation just seem meh to me at this point. Now it's like I'm listening to a dude scream in my ear whining about his problems repeatedly... and it just doesn't sound good. Comparable to nails scratching against the chalkboard. There are so many more artists that I have gained a newfound admiration for, and at this point I'm curious to how I was even a fan of this type of music to begin with - so I was hoping somebody could explain the appeal to me. Is it just that I've grown up?
Feb 15, 2017 Even most of his older stuff has lost it's charm... I think It's safe to say that he has a 3/10 discography.
Feb 15, 2017 No s---, Sherlock. Came to this conclusion around maybe 4 or 5 years ago. That's why I can't be all hypebeast about his intricate rhyme pattern schemes because multi-syllabic couplets don't impress me anymore. It's all I can stands, and I can binaurally stanza -dance with his contemporary output for recent material no more. EDIT: Am I the only one who has trouble using this bold button? It never works? Or is it FIrefox just isn't very compatible with the server on this site? Off-topic, I know. But it's bugging the f--- out of me because I tried to bold something within the confines of that post, but to no avail, it refused to pop up as bolded. Someone needs to fix that.
Feb 15, 2017 Whether you're a fan of his new music or not, most of us that listened to Em back then have got older since then. Just because you matured or have a new interest in the sound of music you prefer shouldn't make you stop being a fan of an artist. It's completely your choice at the end of the day, but i couldn't stop being a fan of a guy i listened to A LOT and then just say "oh i'm older and more mature now, f--- all the time i spent listening to your music because i was in a different time in my life."
Feb 15, 2017 I should've elaborated more in OP. No Favors made me stop being a fan, I was on the edge until then. One of the worst things I've ever heard!
Feb 15, 2017 A matter of taste. I can easily ask that about a lot of things I don't like that are popular.
Feb 15, 2017 Highly doubtful. But out of respect, I will put a few of his older songs back on my phone! Are you excited for the new Future album?
Feb 15, 2017 Em "Trying to be Edgy" is exactly why he's corny nowadays. This dude used to have the gift of gab and a natural knack for relaying his views in a charismatic manner when he was a 27-Year-Old Eleven-Year-Old. Eminem's worst enemy is himself. If he'd have retired after "Recovery", his legacy would have been in a better place, and his catalog wouldn't be so tarnished or blemished by the flawed filler in it.
