i listened 5 times last night back to back to back and i can't say enough good things about this album.

but as far as drawbacks: the first 5 tracks can feel stale. maybe 1 (or 2) of zoom, draco, or super trapper should have been dropped (but take your pick, they're all good songs) because the album settles in at POA and just continues it's excellence throughout.

as far as the production goes, i can't really argue. but mask off onwards is nice to me, i feel like it reminds me of the stuff 2 chainz used in his 2016 run.

i can see people who are disappointed because they feel it's a wheels in the mud type project.

but i think, come say 6-7 months, people will see the project for what it is. and it has some of the best writing since like 56 nights, so i can't imagine too many fans will stay mad at it.

for me this new future album a 8/10

tbh i cant say that i like FUTURE more than DS2, but so far i have listened to it about 3 times and it has grown on me so who knows
so many songs just left me unsatisfied because of the production, i just feel like the album didn't reach to his potential. Future himself sounded absolutely fine on the album, he was funny and kept my attention even when the kicks and snare made my wna throw my headset on the floor lol (i actually did that)
so what im gonna say is if beast mode 2 drops this year its probably aoty
    hehe

    DS2 is dope as h---, 7.5/10 album

i just feel like if the first chapter of the book was monster, and DS2 was the last chapter, then the climax happened some time before DS2.

DS2 is more of a mix bag of music, I feel like out of all of his studio projects, it has the worst flow.

And with some of the mixtape songs making the cut, it just feels less compelling than the tapes themselves. I feel like the tapes were what created the magic of that run, DS2 was just a culmination.

It's not as special as any of his tapes to me, even though it has forever classics like Thought It Was A Drought and slave master etc.

idk man i think out of all the regulars in the future forum, i like DS2 less than all of you guys. FUTURE a better project to me simply for the arrangement and how flawlessly it carries moods throughout.

Honestly I'm kinda regretting not putting OG DS right above DS2/FUTURE -- I think part of the reason I put it so high is cuz of the nostalgia of what an "event" it was...basically the culmination of the celebratory Honest taking a sharp, dark turn to Monster to the more lovesick/bluesy Beast Mode and then the bleakness of 56 Nights. It kinda distilled the latter three projects into one, but you're right in that it makes it feel disjointed. I listened to it every day for probably two months, but when I try these days it usually loses me about halfway through. It's a good project that could use some rearranging (and why weren't the two non-mixtape bonus tracks part of the album ffs).

specifically i serve the base, lil one, freak hoe, rotation, slave master, blow a bag & rich sex

not gnna count the bonus tracks bc thatd be discrediting the projects they actually belong to

the album lacks the identity and soundscape that his other albums got, most of it just sounds like the every day 808 mafia/metro beats that oversaturate the trap scene. like i listened it to death the summer it dropped but i cant deny that for example stick talk could fit on 50 other projects with the same type of production thats dropped the last 3 years.

monster is unique with the horror themed soundscape
beast mode is like trap blues
56 is black, void and minimalist
OG ds is like a dancefloor strip club sound with old school saw synths n s---, watch this sounds like some rave s--- lol

DS2 on the other hand just sounds like a mixed bag of throwaway tracks from its superior predecessors
