Mar 2, 2017 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodomy_laws_in_the_United_States looks like i was off by a year 2003 tho apparently some of the states have the laws on the books still since the final ruling, and it's been suggested that they've sometimes still been used as a way to target gay men in those areas still. in fact, I can remember a story about it several years ago. gay dude got arrested by a cop who cited the anti-sodomy law in his state as the reason for the arrest, even though it was ruled unconstitutional years ago. idk if i can find that story tho, it's been awhile since i've seen it these laws they're pushing for tho are along the same lines of thinking and can allow for a lot of the same thing to happen to gay people to quote from the Wikipedia page on the topic "This body of law institutionalized a number of economic, educational, and social disadvantages. De jure segregation mainly applied to the Southern states, while Northern segregation was generally de facto—patterns of housing segregation enforced by private covenants, bank lending practices, and job discrimination, including discriminatory labor union practices." we already have issues with discriminatory practices in the US towards gay people as we're not a protected class like race/gender, the current legislative push would make things even worse, and only serve to add fuel to the extremists fire that want things like the anti-sodomy laws back in full effect. you say it's a free market issue, i disagree. allowing anyone from doctors to fast food workers to cake makers to government officials to landlords etc., to just freely turn away gay people or refuse to help/do their job because of bs religious beliefs is incredibly harmful and will have a s--- load of repercussions. and it's already an issue that gay people can be fired from a job because they're gay, or be less likely to be hired because they're gay
Mar 2, 2017 why are u tagging my banned account. r u autistic.. plus the thread is about views on homosexuality, and I was showing my point. nvm, u called Relapse trash .. not someone I plan to take seriously
Mar 2, 2017 idk im gonna take that with a big grain of salt until i find an actual case of an arrest for being gay you're going to the extreme here, and assuming that no one with any sway stands for gay rights. it's not the same as with black segregation when black people were forced to use different bathrooms by law. it's not like there wouldn't be wealthy pro-gay people moving into the areas and opening their own shops. it's an economy of opportunity and deciding to alienate an entire niche of people would be absurd for any business to do, but if it were to happen the free market would adjust and fill that void. we're talking about private businesses being allowed to turn away people they don't want to serve for whatever f----- up reason they have, not letting a teenager working at mcdonalds to say 'i dont like blacks so i wont serve them'. they'd obviously be fired on the spot. and if, for some reason, mcdonalds were to start saying "no more gay people are allowed to eat here" then you know what'd happen? everyone would start going to burger king and mcdonalds would go bankrupt and have to shut down their stores. i don't agree with segregation but i also don't agree with forcing someone who's uncomfortable around gay people or anyone else for that matter, to have to serve or do work for that person. a business should be allowed to turn away a customer for whatever reason they deem fit, and if they deem f----- up reasons fit, they won't be in business much longer. if you want to open a convenience store and say "we only serve females here" or you open a burger shop and say "this is for black people only" you should be allowed to do that.
Mar 2, 2017 and i would disagree imo, it just gives that hatred power to legalize it like that, and it's absolutely humiliating and disheartening for that to be a thing that just goes unchallenged. for the betterment of society i simply cannot agree that this should be allowed... and there are other issues as i mentioned, jobs, housing, health care etc. these new laws wouldn't just give this power to random people at a job to not serve gay people a hamburger.
Mar 2, 2017 but you're missing what i'm saying, it's not like if that was enforced, and some psycho random billionaire decided to start a hospital out of nowhere and say "no gays blacks or jews allowed", that gay people, black people, and jewish people would go without health care. they have a need, and there will be a competing service to fill that need to the people who can't get it at the racist hospital, and it'd get support from all the people who don't agree with the policies of the racist hospital. its like if they want to have their own racist circle jerk hospital who cares, let them. they'll be gone out of business anyway because most people aren't racists. if someone is a fundamentalist christian and sees gays as evil they should change their views because it's incorrect, but they shouldn't be forced by the government to do that by law. but hey what do i know i'm a straight white male
Mar 2, 2017 @TrxggerShot i'm not sure what you meant buy quoting koolo, but how would you be talking in a literal sense when "biologically correct" in it's literal definition doesn't even exist
Mar 2, 2017 i'm not missing what you're saying, i'm simply not in agreement that this is how it would all pan out and what consequences there would be because of it not everyone lives in a place with a ton of options, so it could absolutely negatively impact peoples way of life. it's also just really dehumanizing to be refused service like that, and only reinforces negative views and it effects how people think and look at others. this kind of thing leaves a lasting effect, and sends the message to the victims of it that you're less than, and gives other people the idea that this kind of thing is ok. it would undoubtedly cause a s--- load of mental anguish for people, and maybe that's not something you'd get with regards to being gay and accepted, but it's a big deal and stuff like that would only contribute more to the already high suicide rates in gay people and other issues they face. this part is hard for me to really explain and get across, since it's such a personal thing and may not be fully understandable from an outsiders perspective... but it is absolutely harmful also, it's again not just businesses, individuals could just up and refuse service/helping people at will upon realizing you're gay.. need life saving help, and have an EMT show up that thinks that gay people are the devil and should be considered criminals? that person could site their religious beliefs and refuse to help you and just simply let you die, and would be protected legally gay kid at school and your principal and teachers don't like gays? they can just up and kick you out of there and alienate you from your friends and that would force you to have to change schools and start all over. working a job and your boss finds out you're gay and doesn't like that? fired. enjoy being jobless trying to find a place to live and the landlord you were going through finds out you're gay? boom, evicted and this kind of stuff, while extreme, is the best way i can think of to illustrate how something like this would and could absolutely go wrong, and quick. but even less extreme consequences would again before just how completely and totally dehumanizing this kind of stuff is. also, i think you underestimate just how many people could and would take advantage of a situation like this to impose their shoddy beliefs on others, or how many people would be okay with/for it or just indifferent to it. also, while i'm not a fan of the government having to step in and force people to play nice, at a certain point this kind of behavior needs to be stopped, and it's not a guaranteed fact that it would just sort itself out naturally, and those people would fail. do you honestly think black people would have been able to progress in our society to the point they have now if jim crow laws weren't stripped away force-ably? no. they wouldn't. race issues would be even more prevalent today
Mar 2, 2017 we were talkin about reproduction and pregnancies.. biologically all species on this planet are following their instincts, one of them is reproduction. we were being literal on the term ''biologically wrong'' not like its an anomaly or stuff like that .. sorry if i confused you more but i dont think i can explain it better in English lol
Mar 2, 2017 idk, i just dislike using the term "wrong" here, idk if i had to choose i'd prefer "different" it's like it doesn't hold any value, a lot of things humans do go against the instinct of reproduction, and other instincts as well yeah there's probably something else you meant and i might just be reading into this situation too much
Mar 2, 2017 I think it's great. It normalizes gay couples so that when kids see it in reality, it doesn't shock or confuse them.
Mar 2, 2017 If Spongebob and Patrick can raid Mr Krabs moms drawers for her panties then you might as well let some muthafuckas kiss
