on jeffery, young thug loses himself in a completely experimental sound pushing the soundscape of his own discography. he successfully strings together 9 tracks which mesh flawlessly in and out of each other, but sound nothing like each other track to track.
the eminem show is a culmination of eminem's commercial sound, and while it has aged horribly and has more than a handful of complete misses, it is still a display of eminem at his best.

I really like Jeffrey, it's not the normal type of music I listen to but as far as the music and hooks Thug was on another level on this project I listen one time and got these songs stuck in my head for days
On the other hand though I feel like Eminem was a top tier rapper during this period when it comes to flow and just the whole package, and besides a few bad tracks was mostly a powerful effort so I have to give the upper hand to TES.Ordinary Joel, Ghostface, Guma and 4 others like this. -

As a friend here's a suggestion; don't simply confine rappers by literary elements, evaluate them by their biggest strengths and the context behind their music. Not saying you don't appreciate good music already, but it will certainly teach you to value those little things that makes artists like Thug all the more impressive.Ordinary Joel, dkdnfbdjdkdddjdjfvcgfl, Poohdini and 3 others like this. -

i also think jeffery is a display of young thug's song crafting ability at its best. like this song:
it's nice to see some focused writing from him too
and then on top of that, there are songs on here that just exemplify that you don't know what you're going to get from young thug verse to verse. but even that aside, you don't know how many switch ups you're going to get within a verse either:
not sure if anyone in rap has as natural a grasp on melody as young thug right now (or ever). jeffery is a full display of thatOrdinary Joel, Poohdini, Goku187 and 3 others like this. - May 7, 2025
