    100% agree. The first reacting should be trying to de-escalate the situation without using violence. Absolutely. Police should be more part of the community and honestly, thats how it is here in Holland. But some officers, especially in the US, act like cowboys with their guns which is wrong. There are other ways. But eventually when there are no options the law should be respected and they should do whatever it takes to take the person down. But always, always try to do it in a way people dont get hurt -again, if thats possible of course-.

    The cowboy comparison is spot on. A big issue the U.S. has is we like to funnel our vets and ex military personnel into law enforcement. They then take the training they received in the military and try to apply it with law enforcement and it just doesn't work that way. When you're cop, you're not a drill sergeant. If you start yelling at someone or presenting yourself like you're the boss of someone, that's going to cause conflict. Especially in these communities that suffer from a lot of crime. They already have a negative view of police and a lot of them are just simply reinforcing that view.

    This is a huge problem. In the end, they are the law, but acting like your the big sherrif and talking down on people is not for our time lol. Maybe in the 70's or something. You should always try to reason with people and be civil. Thats how we learned it and how I always start off. If it doesnt work or they act like 'yeah f--- you' my attitude changes too. And of course some people will never learn and need to be taken down the hard way.. but a lot of times there are better ways, sure.
