Apr 16, 2017 When you hit the blunt and realize the same person that dropped d--- put out GKMC,TPAB & section 80. Like all those albums came from the same person.
Apr 16, 2017 Voted gkmc, don't really feel d--- atm but i think it will grow on me when i listin to it more
Apr 16, 2017 When I first heard TPAB I felt like I had to listen closely so I wouldn't miss anything. This album I didn't feel like I HAD to but I could. It's such a fun album to listen to but it has the classic Kendrick back story. GKMC was that west coast s--- that put Kendrick in the main lane and people knew he was going to be a problem. GKMC had songs I didn't like off first listen and never had liked. d--- doesn't have one track where I dont like. And I can show people this album. With TPAB you needed a required taste. Even though it was beautiful the jazz influence can surely push people away. In 6 months when koolo bumps this thread I think more people will accept that d--- stood on it's two feet.
Apr 16, 2017 It doesn't make much sense to pit both albums against each other. d---. just came out. Let it sink first... It's too early. I don't think anyone can already tell which album is "superior". Time will only tell. I will just enjoy d---. and will analyze the lyrical content next weekend after I'm done with my last exam.
Apr 16, 2017 i really didn't want to touch this thread ugh If gkmc didn't have money trees tbh I would say d--- is better, but I have to give gkmc the slightest edge. d--->tpab tho
Apr 16, 2017 Voted d---., i feel like Kendrick improved a lot lyrically and vocally and because the vibe of the whole album gave me a strange good feeling/mood when i heard it for the first time.
Apr 16, 2017 GKMC is best experienced in one daunting listen from start to finish. d---. makes you want to start it up to hear DNA., and you can put it down then come back to it more easily imo. I don't think they scratch the same itch.
Apr 16, 2017 Voting d---. I agree with most of what you said. GKMC is a masterpiece, but it's pretty straightforward and still has a weak point at the end with Real and to a lesser extent Compton. d--- has no weak point as far as I can tell, and like you said it has Kendrick doing stuff he's never done before. I'm a big fan of artists innovating and going outside their comfort zone.
Apr 16, 2017 This true, d--- the only kendrick album where i dont feel bad for just listening to one or two songs at a time, s80 only one that came close to that, but at the same time d--- is very rewarding to listen through start to finish as well with tracks like duckworth and fear
Apr 16, 2017 I think it has to do with GKMC being a linear narrative, and d---. being a bunch of different types of songs built off of common themes. This visualization of d---. really captures that, even despite there being a lot of incidental links. http://www.alej.hiphop/d---/
Apr 16, 2017 Like you said @Koolo when we listened to TPAB a bunch then took a 24 hour break its flaws started to seep through. When I did the same for d--- it only got better.
Apr 16, 2017 d--- last 4 songs is something else Add the fact it has element feel and pride and hesus christ
