Thanks finally someone with reason. Most people acted like Batman slowly walking around a crime scene until someone handed him the Riddler card for 80% of the movie was "some classic Batman detective work". The characters and acting were all great but I've never looked at my watch more times than during this film

Finally got a chance to watch this. I appreciate the different take on Batman, but wasn't a big fan. For how slow the movie was, it was entirely too long. The action scenes, especially the end was very anticlimactic. Riddler was a really good character though. I honestly didn't feel like I was watching a Batman movie even though this was probably the most screen time Batman has gotten in any of the movies. For how slow the story was and the direction/special effects I felt like I was watching a Max Payne movie with Batman, minus the bullet time. I'd watch if they make sequels to this but I probably wouldn't sit through another 3 hours to ever watch this again. Not even close to TDK trilogy imo

just got back from seeing the early showing in i-max. really enjoyed it. this one is different from the previous films because you actually see Batman doing detective work. in the other Batman films, you don't really see that side of Batman.

i also really enjoyed the relationship between batman and cat-woman. they had great chemistry. and as the movie progresses, they find out that they have more in common with each other than they realize.

man, wait until you guy see the penguin/batman car scene. that was probably my favorite part. what did the rest of you guys think?

Batman would work best with an R rating, but WB would never do it. He’s too massive of a character to alienate certain ages from seeing the movie. Especially after a movie like Logan, I would love to see him with a hard R.

trailer looks good. i'm excited. i love the dark look of Gotham.

i also think paul dano is a fantastic casting for the riddler. first of all, he just looks the part. secondly, he's a very good actor who doesn't get enough recognition. a big, mainstream movie like this should get a lot more people familiar with him.

I’m not flipping anything. Have you stopped to think that maybe..... just maybe, Jeffery Wright is just a good actor? This film is loaded with talent and he’s no exclusion. Grow up.

There’s nothing wrong with the Jim Gordon casting. Shut up. Keep it on topic.

Yea I liked Rises, but it was very flawed to me. I know it could have easily been a “rebound” script/story and one can only assume the original plan was to continue with Ledger, but I just couldn’t shake the difference in tone between it and TDK. I mean, it is very much a Nolan film, but it almost felt like Nolan was trying to make a Nolan movie, if that makes sense lol. I dug the ambiguous ending (he lived, debate a wall), but I guess I would’ve preferred a straight up adaption of the dark Knight returns to some capacity. It’s still a solid, fitting end.

There’s not a bad movie between the Nolan trilogy and this. Also, I think this movie will grow on people in time. It’s the most beautiful looking comic book movie that there’s ever been; cinematography is off da chain.

And btw, the fight choreography in the Nolan trilogy is awful. Reeves s--- on him in that department lol.

The thing with TDKR is they could have made it 4 hours and I would have still enjoyed it because it was exciting the entire movie. There weren't really any boring parts, something was constantly happening that had you on edge. It definitely tried to do to much but was extremely entertaining. This one is just so slow with not a lot of build up and the pay off is meh. I can get if people like the mystery/detective aspect of it, but that's secondary of what I want in a Batman movie

The Dark Knight Rises is an extremely flawed movie but it was a very fun theater experience. And I think that one is a WAY bigger offender in terms of length than this one is. They tried to cram way too much in and it feels disjointed to the point that I almost think it would have been better if they split in half and release six months apart like they did for Matrix Reloaded + Revolutions. Basically have the first one end with Batman's back being broken. Then they could have fleshed out each half of the story a little bit and let each exist on their own terms.

Whereas even if The Batman was long (longer than TDKR even), it had the same through line and makes sense as a single story. I also liked how it had a lot of Batman characters in it but it didn't feel like they were just cramming in a bunch of them to force some MCU crossover bs. They don't just magically appear because the plot needs them to, they felt like a natural part of this version of Gotham.

Marsh should be the next villain tbh

I don’t think Batman could defeat a supreme being like whatever it is Marsh identifies as IMHO!!!!

Oh yeah I definitely agree with that.
The Joker's a great character but it's been overused now.
There are plenty other villains that should be in a Batman movie.
