I'm doing an internship for a company downtown, so it requires a lot of public transportation. The more I encounter the homeless, i'm left stuck in the mud, for multiple reasons:
1. I feel bad
2. I need all the money I can get, i'm only 18
3. They maybe lying
4. At least in my judgemental a--- mind, I think they're not gonna use the money right, which I feel terrible about because I try my hardest not to be judgemental
I was just wondering how you guys deal with ignoring the homeless, or giving them money. Do you think it's right or wrong to give money or ignore them? Really just wanted to see what you guys think about the whole topic....

dont see why anyone would lie about it. if i have any spare change or small notes and they ask me i always try to give them something

there is lots of homeless in melbourne and my most recent visit, i was giving them spare change. my cousins/aunties/uncles then made fun of me for being a tourist and said your supposed to say "f--- off" to all of the.

A lot of them would buy drugs and s--- with the money but can u blame em with such a s--- life, don't feel bad ignoring em lol if u in a city they literally get 1000s of people walk past daily. I usually give a homeless person money once a month? Either a few cones of a $5 note if I've had a good night.

Hella homeless people in my town and a lot of em are lying tbh. Some of em are even known like this one dude would walk through the streets of where all of us college kids lived and he'd take all our beer cans and turn em in for money. Dude was batshit af but we were nice to em.

I've done my share... You can tell if the person genuinely needs the money or not. Though typically at this point in life I just put a mean face on when I walk by and they usually don't bother asking because I look like I'm pissed off about something and I doubt the last thing they want is to get their a--- beaten for asking a random dude for a dollar

The new thing here now is they stand on street corners at lights and ask for money from cars as they drive up.. it used to only be near the freeways/overpasses downtown but they've migrated toward my city in the nicer areas... nothing is gayer than a homeless person that took the time to make a sign and stands on the corner waving it around and walks up to your window like you ordered food from them or something the f--- do I look like

At least in Vegas you would see funny s--- like "Need money for penis enlargement" or "Need to buy girlfriend tampons so she'll stop bitching"... I know it's more of a "job" there but even here I knew a guy from school that was on Facebook bragging about how he makes more money panhandling than we do working... seems like the type of thing Farkle would do

It's not wrong to give money to the homeless, you are just helping, there is no problem with that. Ignoring them is okay too, it's alright to do both & you don't have to feel bad for either one.
