well to be fair the original complex article was also about writers more than the album itself. but this is even worse. its about writers reaction to writers (lol), and then jizzing all over TPAB while insinuating those who dont like it are denying its message and are Uncle Toms/"all lives matter" type people

    its pretty awful

Ah yeah, I probably need to read that one as well.

I really like TPAB, but why do people feel the need to get hurt when someone says they don't like it lol.

because identity politics are corny and we shouldn't say that [albums/essays/whatever] are "good" or "terrible" just because they echo our beliefs.

Narsh you need to structure your posts better I can't understand anything lol

"All Hip Hop steems from black roots"

Yes, that's not the point. It's pretty clear what she meant with her tweet

"You think the guy who compared people disliking an album because its not THAT great musically to Uncle Toms insightful, and the guy who remained objective and proved ample evidence to back up his points "corny"

Objective? How in the world is that article "objective"? The biggest flaw of both authors is how unbiased their points of view are

"Also, if you can read, the dudes points about people reviewing albums to quickly etc is ACTUALLY what Charity's ENTIRE peice was about. im dying."

lol ok, so? He's still presenting the same point a lot better than him

"ill give u my plus status if you can explain what he meant there."

I'm not having this conversation if you're constantly doubting my reading skills

"means nothing. Complex's piece was more about journalists response to the album than the album itself."

Debatable but I get your point

"food for thought doesnt have to = a great album or listening experience or replay value. instance #3000 of people liking what kendricks album entailed more than its actual quality"

That's not the point of the quote!!!

it's not "debatable" to say charity's piece was more about critics than about the album. that's literally exactly the premise of the piece.

When you say "critics", you mean Hip Hop journalism as a whole or the public?

i mean people who are paid to write music criticism. (actually, more specifically, their editors, but this is a whole separate discussion.)

    "Heated" lol

I'm not Skippy, we can have a good conversation

Natural girl = Unconventional/Different/"Real Hip Hop" music

    Instagram model = Trap/Party/itbumpsinthewhip music

Complex writters = Hipsters (in the author's opinion)

He's also taking shots at Pitchfork and other sites

That's none of my business and I find the whole thing silly, I was actually agreeing with the last line, I shouldn't had quoted all the fragment

Whether or not you like or dislike either article, they're both bringing some type of discussion to the table that's needed.
