depends what you mean by "for real." i would say most reasonable people would admit, even begrudgingly, that hillary clinton is superbly qualified to be president. but she doesn't inspire enthusiasm in many people, even on the left, and she's always been a dismal campaigner. it'll be interesting to see how march and april play out--he could hang around for quite a while. but as the gap in superdelegates already shows, it's going to take a miracle for him to come away with the nomination. the best case scenario for the democrats is he sharpens hillary and doesn't do any serious damage to her before the general. (the latter seems almost assured, the former...hopefully.)

bernie sanders is a pretty great guy to have in the senate. in theory, almost all of his ideas about entitlement programs, healthcare, education, the environment, etc. are great, and he's essentially got a perfect record on what we'd all consider no-brainer social issues like gay marriage. (his gun record is as wonky as everyone says it is.) but most economists think his revenue projections designed to pay for his proposed spending increases are wildly optimistic. he also lacks any meaningful foreign policy experience, and has been troublingly reticent on it so far in the campaign.

What would make you think this? I don't think it's impossible for Rubio to win the nomination, but I see no signs that suggest Trump supporters are jumping ship anytime soon, or that other candidates are dropping out of the race. Rubio really needs one or both to happen.

Trump has looked dumb and said outlandish s--- for the better part of 8 months but his numbers only keep growing. He was in the mid-40s in Nevada this week! Rubio has room to grow, but he also has a lot of catching up to do, and Donald shows no signs of slowing down. The party should have tried this sort of full-throated attack last summer or fall, it may have actually made a difference. Now it strikes me as too late.

Jeb Bush spent $5,200.00 per vote in Iowa.

It's only $150 for him to legally change his name.

no, f--- that... donald trump is not a policy-driven candidate. he is a caricature by his own design who spews purposefully inflammatory rhetoric. questioning how this style is going to translate into an actual governing philosophy is 100% valid.

get your popcorn ready for the debate:
sucks to be the rest of them, particularly Santorum who was basically the runner up last time and Perry who keeps wanting to be taken seriously as a candidate for some reason.

Mostly irrelevant. At around this time in 2007, everyone was talking about how Obama had a good run, came on strong, but flamed out. Bush has run a really s-----y campaign so far, though, and the most important part might be this:
once this thing gets ugly, it is impossible to get that genie back in the bottle.

politically, fine. but this anti-vaccination movement is hurting kids right now, and could start killing them. by playing into a fringe base that believes vaccines are some kind of conspiracy theory they start to legitimize the people on BOTH sides (lefties who think the pharma companies are trying to k--- them for a profit and righties who think it is a government plot to control them) who are a serious danger to public health. If this issue gets pushed into the mainstream of our left/right debate, it could do major damage to the larger group of Republicans who never questioned vaccination policy until Rand Paul started talking about it and they found out Obama and Hillary are in favor. and if vaccination levels start to fall more than they already are, that puts the population at risk of diseases that should really be essentially eradicated.

there are many issues on which there is not a great deal of light between the parties. on other issues there are large differences. of course, that point in itself makes your original point about Hillary representing "the left" being disappointed with Obama pretty much as stupid as it originally appeared.
"the left" is disappointed with Obama so they now support Hillary (who, if anything, is viewed as a more centrist establishment Democrat than Obama is) even though support for both among Democrats is near universal, but Democrats and Republicans are mostly the same.

you're talking yourself into circles trying to defend a bunch of stupid things because you can't acknowledge that the first stupid thing you said was just wrong
