I’m a political science/economics major. It’s what I study in school. That’s why I post about it. I’ve said that before. If I supported pushing away refugees or any of the things i’ve criticized trump of doing, i would be totally on the other side of the political spectrum. It would totally contradict everything i’ve said on this forum about my political beliefs from even before Trump was elected. This post is total nonsense. There’s a spectrum for everything. Obviously there are worst places off than the U.S., when have I said otherwise?

I'm generally pretty far left and I'm against letting in tons of possibly dangerous people in, so that's false. And I never said you were in support of it I said you were against it and don't understand why it's such a serious issue.

Haven't heard that one before. Don't worry @Soulja your post made perfect sense. Enigma's just showing his poor reading comprehension, yet again.

Everyone is against letting dangerous people in the country. What you makes you think any logical person would be for that? What I & many people disagree with are trump’s methods of addressing said issues. Whether it be a Muslim ban, a Wall, etc. They’re bad policy rooted in racism & xenophobia. What is it that I don’t understand? Please, elaborate.

Banning muslims is not rooted in racism because

    1. Islam is not a race and assuming all people from the middle east are muslims is itself racist by most anti-Trump standards

    2. It's not because we have an irrational hate towards muslims, it's because in plenty of those countries it's a culture where it's socially acceptable to regularly throw gay people off buildings and bomb their own mosques. Even if it is a minority of them doing it it doesn't mean it's not a serious problem.

He's just honest and not professional about it, if you think it's unprofessional for the president calling countries s--- holes does that mean those countries aren't s--- holes?

Your worldview is too simplistic. Concentrating all your vitriol on populist attitudes towards refugees is a lost errand. The refugee crisis is nothing more than a symptom. There never would have been a massive surge of migrants out of Syria had there not been Western interventionism there. As I've said before, that's the true underling problem, proxy wars and world policing. You're focusing on the wrong thing.

There are at any rate legitimate reasons for opposing letting huge swaths of refugees into the United States, and they have nothing to do with racism.

This is your problem lmao. anti-immigration to you is immediately "racism, xenophobia" even though I and countless other members have said to you, it's not about where they are from or what race, it's just if they are from third world/undeveloped countries - it is at the very least questionable to openly allow them to make such a leap forward in terms of society/culture/technology etc etc.

If you had to pick to live in some undeveloped country that has for example, armed rebel groups/militia/barely any sort of legal system/justice over a developed country where those problems don't exist, you are 100% picking the 'safe' developed country. 100% of the time. Now, I know not every third world country is living in mud huts and sending smoke signals, alot still have internet access and the basic utilities etc, just first world countries "have it better".

All these first world developed countries had to experience all sorts issues, tragedies, problems, turmoils, wars etc to learn and build from those mistakes, to have the first world utopias we have today. Allowing mass immigration is like letting them dive head first into things they've never experienced before and while they may enjoy their new life, they left every problem in their home country behind. Now i've spoken to lots of people from all different parts of the world. The biggest thing I've learnt is that even though you may share a native language, the way you speka is almost interpreted as a different language, because mannerisms, tones and certain ways of communicating through speech are interpreted differently between cultures. It's culture shock for people who migrate and it's irresponsible to let developing countries continue to rot. How is it racist or xenophobic that I want to see every country on-par with one another in the future? as opposed to a future where 90% of people are living in the 2 not-f-----, but still overpopulated countries in the world while the other 10% are playing Mad Max in undeveloped s--- holes?

And let's not forget the fact that GOP senators have said they don't recall him saying that.

This is a straw man. I said racism & xenophobia. The same guy who proposed a “Muslim ban” falsely claimed “thousands of Muslims celebrated on rooftops in New Jersey on 9/11.” Trump’s rhetoric on Muslims/Middle Easteners since the very beginning of his campaign has been negative. Hence why we’ve seen a spike in hate crimes against Muslims in the U.S. since Trump announced his run for office.

It is irrational because statistically, your chances of being killed by a refugee in the U.S. are slim to none. You have a better chance of being struck by lightening — literally. There are roughly 3.5 million Muslims living in the U.S., some born here, some came here & you don’t see this epidemic of gay people getting thrown off bridges. The U.S. is a melting pot. People assimilate here much easier than they do in European countries.

Your statistics of being killed by a refugee in a country with 300 million people is slim so we're gonna act like things similar to 9/11 aren't being planned out as we speak and will probably fail because we're protective of letting people in?

You're acting like there wasn't a radical muslim attack in NYC just a few months, even people born here or that came here at a young age can be a threat, which is why we need to take immigration extremely seriously.

I’m talking about trump’s ridiculous suggestion of a “Muslim ban” over concerns of “national security.” This is something you’ve even called stupid in the past.

? I think you are confusing my words, I said if Trump banned "muslims" exclusively that would be dumb. But Trump tried to block what 9, 12? middle eastern countries and everyone called racist because they were muslim? when in fact like 70% of those countries had the absolute s--- bombed out of them by Obama the previous year?

IIRC 1 or 2 of the countries weren't even majority muslim countries too.

“The U.S. is a melting pot.” Tell that to the people whose countries we destroyed. Understandably most of them will never feel any national or cultural loyalty to us.
