Well do some research if you have never heard of radical liberalism..Do your homework. The general meaning of liberalism can mean many different things - there are many different branches of it. Paul probably falls into the neo-liberal side of it, but who knows. I suspect he's more of a centrist.

I consider myself a classical liberal.. in the old school sense. Far from what is considered the American left today.. The word "liberal" to me means open minded and for free speech and for personal freedoms. Far from what the left is today.

Look at what Liberalism means in France. It's completely different to an American "liberal" which is why your labeling of liberal is stupid and inaccurate. To a Frenchman, "liberals" are more likely to be considered right-leaning, in the sense of an unrestricted capitalist anarchy. The French left, in any case, is socialist. So "liberal" can mean so many different things.
