This guy is said to be a lot like Scalia so I think it's a good pick. Scalia was respected cos he defended the Constitution. An originalist.

He's a textual originalist, has a record of votes against law enforcement overreach and executive branch overreach. Anti abortion leanings. Similar to Scalia.

He fits the mold of everything Scalia was and more. He's more conservative than Scalia and will be the second most conservative judge on the bench only being more to the left than Thomas. Like most conservative judges he's an "originalist" meaning he doesn't view the constitution as an evolving document. He believes it should be interpreted to what the founders wanted. His positions are pretty typical: strong gun rights advocate, anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage, etc. Some notable rulings would be his rulings in the Hobby Lobby case and Little Sisters of the Poor case where he challenged the ACA's contraceptive mandate on grounds of religious liberty. He's pretty much as reliable of a conservative as you can get. I was praying for Hardiman to get the nomination. He's only a bit more conservative than Kennedy who's known as the court's moderate/swing vote. Supreme Court justices tend to get more liberal the older they get (even Scalia did) so that's the only thing I can really hope for lol.

If he gets confirmed it to the bench, I hope they don't overturn Roe vs Wade or gay marriage. That would be an absolute nightmare .

Ehhh I think gay marriage and roe v. wade are safe for now. However if one of the liberal justices passes away or Kennedy steps down for whatever reason and Trump selects another very conservative nominee--that's when I'll start to worry.

So apparently Trump got into a heated phone call with the prime minister of Australia over supposed refugees that the Obama administration had agreed to take in. Trump's immigration ban put questions on whether the deal was still active or not and Trump reportedly hung up on the Australian prime minister out of frustration lol. @Coco arent you Aussie? Lol thoughts on this?

Oh and I'm sure you guys heard that the student body at UC Berkeley protested last night due to the school inviting Milo Yiannopoulos to come speak. His event was eventually canceled due to how crazy the protest got. Donald Trump threatened to cut off federal funding for UC Berkeley for not letting Milo speak.

If you don't know who Milo Yiannopoulos is he's an internet figure who's known for his very conservative political rants. He's very anti-gay (even though he's gay himself) and anti-feminism. He once stated that gay rights were "detrimental to society" and that trans people "suffer from mental illness." That's the guy our president is willing to cut federal funding for.
