Sep 9, 2019 If Em actually releases something in coming days...this might become one of the classic threads of all time
Sep 9, 2019 Just listened to Believe again & only just caught another bar “If time was on my side, I’d still have none to waste/waist” Seems like every bar in that song has at least a double meaning. Crazy writing
Sep 9, 2019 That song is one of best Em songs ever alongside with Castle & Arose. Revival has given us some 10/10 tracks by Em.
Sep 9, 2019 when the song starts, s--- gives you a classic vibe and then "black boy black boy" comes in and destroy the whole s---. Same thing with Remind Me intro and Revival interlude. The songs after these just dont fit
Sep 9, 2019 It happened with Relapse, it happened with Recovery, it happened with MMLP2, I guess now it's happening with Revival. "Every CD, critics gave it a 3, then three years later, they'd go back and re-rate it." In the *immediate* aftermath of release, they were praised. Then soon enough, everyone "realized" they actually weren't that good, and alongside this realization, everyone also started to think the previous album was way underrated. So now we're entering the phase where Revival "is actually not that bad". To be fair, this mostly applies to Stans, not mainstream fans or critics. The way I see it, Revival still sucks on the whole, by Eminem standards. The only great songs are Believe, Chloraseptic, and Framed. Castle and Arose are good for what they are, but I can't pretend they didn't leave me cold at the time Revival came out. We waited four years for an Eminem album, and after the first three songs, all he's giving us on each track is stupid puns, extremely tepid political talk, and stale relationship stuff. As I got to the last three songs on Revival during the first listen, I was going all in, hoping that Em would at least wow me at the end, but after an entire album of rehashed material, we got... More songs about his overdose. I get it, they're heartfelt, the lyricism is great, and the vocal performance is too, but they're the least original songs on the entire album. He doesn't say anything he didn't say a million times before. He told us about his overdose on Deja Vu, and then that wasn't enough so he gave us an entire album talking about it with Recovery. That was okay - by the time he released MMLP2, the addiction and overdose seemed mostly to be in the past. Obviously they still stuck with Em in his memory, and so he did mention it plenty on MMLP2, but it was still mostly in offhanded remarks and jokes about being an addict, or now being clean. I know I'm making a big deal over something small, but it was a big disappointment to me at the time. TL; DR: Revival is still his worst album by a wide margin, and Castle and Arose are overrated.
Sep 9, 2019 My fav from the song is prolly Laying vocals 2 days in a row True statement ,hate to go down this road But there's only one route to cross this bridge So I walk in this b---- with loose change 'Cause all my dues paid, but this booth's takin' its toll
Sep 9, 2019 Yeah i remember that day when he was writing it. Dude was in the zone. Then rick came in and and starting playing the gutiar and just killed the whole vibe.
Sep 9, 2019 ayo @JMG can you give one of your bs album drop theory? ngl they're pretty fun to discuss
Sep 9, 2019 Wow what have I been saying for YEARS? People will see Revival as a classic with due time. It’s such a deep, layered, mature album. And people are already starting to see that it’s a masterpiece....
