i’m not looking to defend all music critics because obviously most of them are awful, but i see this attitude alll over the board and i have to ask: you guys who blame “sjws” or whatever, do you actually think people couldn’t object to late-period eminem on aesthetic levels? like, i think him clinging to “fa----” is embarrassing and lazy, but my bone-deep aversion to this record has nothing to do with morals or politics — it’s totally possible to simply find the writing and rapping bad.

Listened in the car on the way to work. Nothing really stood out, but not as cringeworthy as Revival I guess.

It's not bad compared to his recent work. It's the opposite of Revival.

• Somewhat self-aware
• Darker album
• No poppy features
• Calling out people who are actually relevant
• Better delivery
• Not pandering for album sales
• Surprise release is something I never thought Shady Records would do

I think if he combined Kamikaze with the few decent tracks on Revival, this album could've been better than Recovery.

Eminem's musical style just isn't my taste anymore, so I don't imagine myself coming back to re-listen. We're all so invested in Eminem's story, so I still find songs like Stepping Stone really interesting.

5/10 first listen

I don't really have an opinion on him using the f word. It doesn't affect me that much and I understand why the lgbt community would be offended.

But I don't think it's fair to write off an entire project for a line quoting old Tyler's music where he kills h---s.


I'm not associating myself with the anti-sjw movement btw. Just using that word is f---ing cringe
